you can easily avoid it if it seems to op for you
it has the same limitations as other means of transportation.
As for PVP: pals can shoot up, and turrets. Tadaa...
And if you have a problem with PVP, big hnt: don't play PVP, that's what I do, it solves 99% of my problems/
Flying feels very slow in this game until you get to later game Pals so I don't have any issues with it.
What would be nice though is to see all Pal's have a low fly speed at low levels that gradually increases as that Pal levels up.
So if you want a fast flier, you should have to put in the time to raise it.
that way the grappling hook has more life, cause pretty much grappling hook is useles cause nitewing is like a lvl 12 mount
Grappling hook is amazing when yer high level and you have to make encumbered runs.
Flight itself isn't bad, but I think it does cheapen the world a bit. I have a friend that discovered flying, I can already tell he isn't ever gonna walk around the world again. Sucks to be him imo because he'll not really see what pals are where, Just gonna use the habitat map and wander around those areas aimlessly.
if i'm honest, he's a very avoidant gamer, and he gets frustrated easily, I'm willing to assume its mechanics like flight that add to the (almost) entitlement to easy victory for those types of players. They're so used to getting a mechanic they can manipulate the hell out of to easily win that its all they look for when they're playing. Not sure if people can understand this right but a game called Shadows Of Doubt is a detective game, and there is several methods to solve your missions, but its very easy to just... lock into the easiest and simplist method which might not be available every time. The game isn't hard by any stretch, its just easy to bypass a lot of the (imo) fun parts of the game, and thats what I think flying is gonna do for the player in my story. They'll enjoy it, but only because they get to continue their status quo they've had for a long long time.
Whereas something like a Surfent lets you cruise from island to island like nothing and isn't heavily level-gated.
It can be argued that you can travel further, faster with a Fenglope or similar pal than a Nitewing or Galeclaw.
I think flying is in a good place where it is. The only thing I would want changed is the aggro radius increased; it's so easy to cheese effigies and high-level chests with a flyer. I won't spoil anyone's playthrough with details but it's easy to farm Hyper Spheres as soon as level 15.
Honestly, its a choice for you if you want the convenience of the mounts or bring your favorite pals.
