Flying with pals shouldn´t be a thing...
... or atleast something far in the endgame with a cooldown.

We can climb everywhere, we got a grappling hook, so much to explore and flying just kills it. I know it´s a favorite from a bunch of poeple when we talk about QoL features, but flying generally in games has a lot of downsides mostly.

It just makes the whole concept of the world kinda irrelevant in many ways as it does to a couple of items or the whole stamina-system. Also not being able to dip into water even without stamina on the flying pal is kinda nonsense and makes those water-pals like Azurobe irrelevant aswell.
Looking at PvP and how simply a base can get overtaken by it is nothing i want to see aswell.

Flying is not a good concept in a bunch of games and should be taken out or needs to be way more limited.

Look at you, trying to force all those innocent and hard working Pals to the unemployment line.
Shru Jan 27, 2024 @ 7:58am
nah, more people want flying

see, i love the flying and hate the grapple

you can easily avoid it if it seems to op for you

Hum... Flying uses stamina, so it's not unlimited, it's only slightly faster than walking unless you have a faster attribute.

it has the same limitations as other means of transportation.

As for PVP: pals can shoot up, and turrets. Tadaa...

And if you have a problem with PVP, big hnt: don't play PVP, that's what I do, it solves 99% of my problems/

OP, no one is forcing you to use a flyer.

It's limited enough as it is imo.
Flying feels very slow in this game until you get to later game Pals so I don't have any issues with it.

What would be nice though is to see all Pal's have a low fly speed at low levels that gradually increases as that Pal levels up.
So if you want a fast flier, you should have to put in the time to raise it.

I got to level 24 without flying a single time. I just glide everywhere. I found a hangyu in an egg and just lift glide now. Flying is optional, just as it is in any game where you can fly, but people want the mobility, so it isn't a bad thing to have.

I play in SP and I love flying around.

yeah i think Flying should be a end game thing, like lvl 40-50+ to unlock flying,

that way the grappling hook has more life, cause pretty much grappling hook is useles cause nitewing is like a lvl 12 mount

I don't think flying should be completely eliminated, but I agree it should be limited in PvP. Maybe set it up like WoW: no-fly zones within a fairly large distance of a base.

Grappling hook is amazing when yer high level and you have to make encumbered runs.

Definitely need to make it possible to command your pal to target something without having to throw its sphere at said target (help mitigate flying entities annoyances on targetting)
Flight itself isn't bad, but I think it does cheapen the world a bit. I have a friend that discovered flying, I can already tell he isn't ever gonna walk around the world again. Sucks to be him imo because he'll not really see what pals are where, Just gonna use the habitat map and wander around those areas aimlessly.

if i'm honest, he's a very avoidant gamer, and he gets frustrated easily, I'm willing to assume its mechanics like flight that add to the (almost) entitlement to easy victory for those types of players. They're so used to getting a mechanic they can manipulate the hell out of to easily win that its all they look for when they're playing. Not sure if people can understand this right but a game called Shadows Of Doubt is a detective game, and there is several methods to solve your missions, but its very easy to just... lock into the easiest and simplist method which might not be available every time. The game isn't hard by any stretch, its just easy to bypass a lot of the (imo) fun parts of the game, and thats what I think flying is gonna do for the player in my story. They'll enjoy it, but only because they get to continue their status quo they've had for a long long time.

The earliest flyer you get is a Nitewing at 15. Then a Galeclaw at 20. I don't remember when the Vanwyrm saddle unlocks but I imagine it's somewhere between 25 and 30. They are dreadfully slow comparatively and are average in combat or labor (ig lv3 transpo is nice but it's not game-changing).

Whereas something like a Surfent lets you cruise from island to island like nothing and isn't heavily level-gated.

It can be argued that you can travel further, faster with a Fenglope or similar pal than a Nitewing or Galeclaw.

I think flying is in a good place where it is. The only thing I would want changed is the aggro radius increased; it's so easy to cheese effigies and high-level chests with a flyer. I won't spoil anyone's playthrough with details but it's easy to farm Hyper Spheres as soon as level 15.

Understandable to limit flying to fast travel points but remove it completely? Come on man!
adobo Jan 27, 2024 @ 8:11am
Flying mounts are super slow to get around. Only really useful going up. A ground mount moves faster even without traits. Glider pals moves faster across the air than a flyer. If you use pals for traversal, that's 3 slots for your party. Very limiting on what pals you want to bring with you.

Honestly, its a choice for you if you want the convenience of the mounts or bring your favorite pals.
