Report a translation problem
Although I would be perfectly happy to see the planting and gathering combined together. There's enough monsters that have both, so it's not as big of a deal. But it is weird to have them as separate tasks.
Devs could add a new mechanic instead.
(Probably the reason they are separate tasks already is that they were out of ideas and they needed an even number of tasks for the system hud. More or less not being serious intended)
Handiwork and medicine production is also kinda the same, though. The difference is only "knowledge" if someone knows how to make it or not.
But if that was the case, we could easily dig deeper and add separate tasks for weapon making, tool making etc... Since some pals might know how to make them and some might not.
If anything you should ask for more specialized Pals who only do the thing you want. Like how there one ones that only have fire, only have water, only have electric, only have ice.
I don't think there are any that only do handiwork but maybe I just haven't found one yet.
What you say is already a problem which is the lack of automation control.
Pals run all over the place and do what they have higher priority for that you have no control over.
Hopefully later there will be a priority control like in Rimworld (since this "feature" is the core aspect of any automation gameplay).
I still wish there was a HELP ME button to request pals to aid you with whatever you are currently crafting. While pals come when you build, they mostly ignore you when you craft, cook, etc..

the game system "necesse" a much simpler survival game, it has an interesting system where each character has a role in doing something but you can block what you don't want them to do even if they have the ability to do it. . So he focuses on other things you really want!!!
