Is the Desolate Church a good spot or does the location not matter too much?

This is what my gf and I did, we made our first base a food generation location with some crafting. The second base we made a purely mining and smelting location. There are quite a few locations that you can capitalize on a large supply of ore that respawns. You can use desolate church but there is a severe lack of space in that location. There is a location at the top of a plateau in the yellow grass area that gives quite a bit of space that you can capitalize on with a lot of ore to mine.

That's where I am. Teleport to church, mine ore, drop down to base, repeat. Love it.

I'm using that spot for ore cause someone took the best spot on my Server :P

Desolate church is precisely where my second 'base' is, though it's only a pal box and a small storage container. But hey, it's only there for me to teleport in, beat up some ore rocks, then teleport back out.

Incidentally my third base is next to a large coal node in the small desert at the north end of one of the middle islands, since coal seems to be the other resource you need a metric f***ton of.

Another reason you might wanna avoid setting up a base in the church is because it already has a teleporter there so if you need a burst of ore then you can teleport there while your actual ore base remains undisturbed

Yes this spot was my choice just for the trees and ore being right there,

The patch of 6ish ore nodes across the bridge from where the Chillet Alpha spawns is pretty good too.

Get good mining pals and 1 or 2 gatherers and you have a auto mining base, just make sure you put a box near your pal box and you can transfer big amounts of ore between bases.
