Unable to join friends game.
Typically I solve these issues in game on my own, or with a google seach, but its been over an hour so here we go.

"Connection timed out.
(If your connection fails repeatedly, restarting your PC may fix the issue.)
(If other players are also unable to connect to the same host, the host PC may need to be restarted.)
(This error may also occur when other players are still connected.)"

Despite the listed instructions after several restarts, from both my self and my friend I still cant join back to the game we have been working over the last few weeks. We had just scouted a spot for a new base deeper inland and I was eager to start building.

Anyone have any suggestions besides, Restart and try again?

Make your own server or wait for the game to age

I tried hotspot, still no luck. I have tried everything from running it with directx12 to admin, palword-win64-shipping, resetting comp/router. Even port forwarding.

I had been playing with him just fine all week, even after the update. But for some reason today I cant join him, nor an official or community server. So clearly the issue is mine.

I'm currently having the same issue, we just created a dedicated server but they keep getting the "connection timed out" thing

Does anyone know what port this game requires to be opened?

8211

When you click on join server (no invite code) from the main menu, you would see at the bottom an IP address with :8211 that part is the port the game is trying to use when connecting.
If your friend gives you there IP (not local IP) you can type it in there followed with the :8211
To join them instead of using the invite code.

One thing that happened for me was my anti-virus(Norton) was registering palworld as an invalid digital signature and once i changed that to always allow, i haven't gotten the message again.

none of those would fix a network error aside the hotspot or port forwarding. If you can no longer connect, can another friend connect to the host? How do you know the issue is not on your friend's side since you mentioned trying to join them. Port forwarding generally won't change anything for the client, it can help improve the connection but the point of it is so the host of the game's network allows inbound connections from the internet, which is what lets you connect to the server. Most of the time it is a port forwarding issue which needs to be solved on the host's network.

that sounds like the connection for him is not good enough. He is connecting and lagging out if you see that happening.
anyone else still having this issue? A friend and I are running into this where she is unable to join. But we did a test to see if a new game would work, and it does just fine. Reload the other game immediately after, and they could not join. I think further progress increases the chance of this happening.
I should mention that this issue is with non dedicated servers. The invite code thing
