How are you getting your ore?

There are a couple of good locations to find ore on the starter island. Get some tombats and set up a small base for them to mine it for you

Explore around, look for shiny rocks that can be mined. I kept on exploring until i found a good area with a decent amount of ore, and built a base near it.
I've found that it tends to respawn, so you can always go back and mine more.

there are several locations on the map with ~8 ore boulders
you can either get a digtoise, the headband and take a few trips between your base and the the said locations
or you could build a secondary base, fill it with some basic stuff (berry farm, beds) and many pals who can mine and carry to all lug it into a single box

Go tame a bowser in the dry dry desert and use his up b to break rocks by just tossing him on top of them

There was a good ore spot at 192 -40 with Ore and Coal on a hillside. Flatten up the center of that hill with foundations and you'll have enough room to build a mining outpost past the level 10 base upgrade.

There are only a handful of places with alright ore spawns.

If youre on a multiplayer game they can all be taken by 5 people with 2x palboxes.

behind the church with the statue for upgrades on the first island is 5 or 6 ore nodes. I created a base there for ore.

I tried this but the AI kept messing up. The pals I had gathering the ore wouldn't so there would be huge piles of ore that stopped the Tombats from working

Get most of my ore when I'm in dungeons.

Desolate Church fast travel location. just build a chest there, dump the ore into it in stacks you can carry, then run it back to base in however many trips that takes. rinse and repeat. 40 ore per node for 9 nodes means 360 ore each time.
