I'm fully aware of what all Early Access means. I've been playing early access games for 12 years. I'm also aware that the shape of an early access game can be shaped by the community via such comments. One of the reasons to launch a game in early access is to get that player feedback in order to refine the game into what the players want. This could be anything from squashing bugs, to balance, and even additional features.
So my post was to serve two purposes:
1) To ensure the devs were aware of the issue
2) To see if any players out there found a workaround
So far, my boyfriend has found that moving them to a different base that has absolutely nothing else for them to do, tends to help.
A workaround I've found for when they will simply not accept a job even though none of the above mentioned issues are present, is to recall them to your box, place them in another base, then bring them back. That seems to reset whatever AI bug is preventing them from doing a job.
Second are the large stations like assemble, ranch and breeding. You have 2 problems with it. First the area to assign is all around but works better if you give some space between you and the facility and throw it at front/entrance, don't need to throw inside. And second if you cut down threes and stones and build anything on top, it will prevent them to respawn but if you build a breeding for exemple, it will prevent the respawn but their spawn area will still be there as a ghost and if the pal can mine or log it will assign on these jobs instead of breeding, same to ranch or anything else, so avoid building them on top of this and obvious far from them.
I love to lift them up but I preffer to enter in some sort of configuration menu on every work station and assing them from there.
Also another annoying thing even if you assing a pal and it leave to eat, if another pal can do his job they will take over their place and the assigned pal will be idle or do something else.
I do hope they let us have a slot to assign Pals, and even for items so you can sort items properly. If you have a feed box they'll put ALL food in it instead of the Fridge. Granted it doesn't go bad if it's constantly stocked, but also makes the Fridge kinda moot.
I'm really hoping they add a ranch for meat/leather that doesn't kill your Pals. I'd love to have a ranch/farm where you can toss in Mozzarina and get their meat, as well as Leather. Otherwise farming food becomes a bit tedious and not worth it at all.
