What about City builders? Isn't cities skylines just a rip-off of the first Sim City? It sure as hell is but is it fun? Absolutely.
Game concepts and Genres don't have an age limit. Was BotW the first open world game with an action combat system? Heck no. It's also in some form a rip-off.
What are people thinking these days I can't wrap my head around it. EVERYTHING is a rip-off of something in some way, shape or form. That has lost all meaning by now.
Doom is a rip-off of castle wolfenstein ?
Every game after doom are rip-offs of doom? every call of duty, half life, medal of honor ?
And so what ? Every game company has taken inspiration from other game companies since games were invented.
