This changes based on - the level of the pal hitting you, the power of the attack, and their attack stat.
Each set of armor corresponds quite well to damage reduction of its associated level tier, but the primary idea of the game as the player character is not to get hit at all.
Are you playing on hard, and are you fighting pals your level or far above you? These factors make huge differences given how damage formulas work.
I have been thinking about some of the mods I have seen that extend durability or even disable it. Because armor is basically gone after one good hit from a boss.

Farm the map boss Sweepea every hour, it drops 6-8 Ancient parts
