Is there real risk of lawsuit? (Update from the previous Pokemon legal lead)
The guy that was the chief of legal for Pokemon from 2008 to 2020 in there was on a chat where he said stuff like

"looks like the usual ripoff nonsense that I would see a thousand times a year when I was chief legal officer of Pokémon."

And "I'm just surprised it got this far,"

Is there a real chance that Nintendo is scrutinizing the game and is finding what to pick on to build a case against Palworld? As far stretched as it may be, wouldn't they try?

If it was possible for Nintendo to sue they would have done so way before the game got released. Pokemon doesn't own the monster catching genre.

No doubt they're aware of the game and are investigating, but honestly they have no case. 'Similar' is not good enough in a copyright or trademark lawsuit.

yeah, but we also have been similar lawsuits that were more far fetched than this one would be haven't we... so I find unlikely a company like Nintendo that even had a go against content creators, wouldn't have a go at this.

If they could have the game never would have been released in the first place. That's how Nintendo is when it comes to lawsuits. They're the most sue happy company in gaming and their law team is like it's own CIA that disappears young youtubers and tortures them at their black sites. Game would have never gotten this far if they had anything.

Thor (pirateSoftware) on his stream summed it up pretty much as.
Pocketpal has been openly working on this game for 3 years now, posting twitter updates and releasing videos. Nintendo has had plenty of time to take it down, and it wouldn't even be that hard since pocketpal and nintendo are both Japanese companies, making it a far easier to accomplish local lawsuit, instead of international.
Probably sees it as another Digimon situation
Not a chance.
