What's the point of a heater?
If heater and campfire both give +1 to heat, why would I ever waste the resources to build a heater in addition to the pal needed?

I have a house set up with incubators for my "hot" eggs and found I get the same result whether I use a heater or a campfire. That seems silly.

Think one doesn't catch things onfire that randomly run through it, the other does.

That's a really poor benefit for all the additional resources required.

I mean, you say that. But imagine you have a wooden base and forget you have a pal following you. They step in the fire, it moves and spreads to your base. It doesn't happen with a heater though. The biggest offender would be campfires around eggs though.

That's very easily circumvented by a small amount of planning and also using stone. It's a VERY poor use of resources when you can just use a campfire for the same effect.

Like I said, you do you. Ore is irrelevant once you have a decent base up and going, so the ingots are laughable.

Right now they seem like a waste of space and time to put up the heaters/coolers. Different eggs want different temperatures. So you'll either want two separate hatching rooms or to constantly swap the cooler/heater for the one you need at the time.
At least for the time being it seems more an efficient use of space to just put more incubators to hatch more eggs faster. And that way you don't have to waste the pal base slot.

yea its something I'm hoping they'll change. was extremely disappointed when I upgraded to an "electrical" heater and freezer.

Unless you just stop crafting orbs altogether you always need ore, and the fire ticks like 5 dps and ends after 10 seconds you can completely ignore it, I stood in a fire and it took 3 minutes to even kill me

You still didn't prove him wrong ... chill.

it's okay for things to be not finished and not perfect.

Some people like snow region bases.

My honest guess is so that you can manually throw one of your own pals on it when needed. But otherwise keep it in a locked room so your normal base pals don't try to assign to it. May also give a greater radius of heating compared to the campfire. (I haven't tested that extensively.) Or provide more "heat" such as when you're in the frozen biome at night. Maybe a campfire isn't enough?

If you play single play just increase the Egg Incubation from the game's settings, that will help you incubate them faster.

The heater covers a larger area, when you set a base camp up in the ice areas you'll see the benefit of them. even with pal refined anti cold armour the nite time cold will kill you otherwise

People and pals that are on fire cannot start fires by walking onto wood. Fires can ONLY be started by pals using fire type moves on the wood afaik.

It's for cosmetic, you can have a neanderthal camp fire or a modern heating appliance.
