Tanzee assault rifle ability

I crafted the Tanzee Assault Rifle thingy and whenever I press F to activate it, he just kinda does a little funny dance and the ability wears off, no shooting no nothing, no rifle for crying out loud. Is there something else I need to do for it to work?

An enemy in range? I think it auto-attacks anything in range. If there's neutral pals around, try attacking them. The AI isn't terribly bright on that front.

I've had this happen with a few different Pal abilities. I think sometimes they just get bugged. If it continues to happen, restarting the game may help. I had a Nitewing refuse to let me fly it until I reloaded.

I tried this ability a couple times and the monkey makes stormtroopers look like snipers. Cant hit the broadside of a mammorest.
