Well, from what I saw it isn't that it is a copycat, it is more about a model issue from what other developers were stating.
Apparently, they used identical models that would be impossible to copy as many times as is happening in this game. I don't know the full story or about it but there was an article discussing it.

EDIT: I just want people to know - I think its fine with how many other ripoffs exists, I just rather have a game that is as enjoyable as this in the pokemon setting that isn't just straight up family friendly. So hope this goes no wear and the game is fine.

thats fine, they can sue in japan, it would be a local lawsuit, not a global one, everywhere else has fair use.
