It is only the 3rd stage grapple gun has ok cooldown rate with good range, followed by the final 4th stage grapple gun with its good cooldown rate and great range
All you need to do is un-equip and then re-equip the grapple gun in your inventory to reset the cooldown lol
Edit: apparently the range does increase.
I am pretty sure the range does increase
But yea, the cooldown on shots is irritating. Even more so if you're playing alone.
Edit:
I used it a little bit for exploring. I only had Nitewing still conscious for flying, so it helped a little. But I don't really mind that it's not that useful for exploration. That's what the flying pals are for as far as I'm concerned. But I'll still keep one on me. Because I've had instances where I've run out of stamina and fell into water and died, due to lack of stamina to swim/jump out. The grappling hook is not hindered by your lack of stamina, so it helps in those situations.(at least it wasn't when I played) Just grapple what I want to climb, jump, and immediately finish climbing the rest of the way.
You could just use the Dash attack on a Direhowl. It's 100% better than grappling hook.
i could be wrong so correct me if i am im pretty sure at this point in time the element bows+grenades are only really for applying status effects as any status on a pal makes them easier to capture so use poison/fire arrows to apply your status then go to your main weapon. also fire damage is % of max hp damage i know this as setting a tower boss pal on fire can do 250+ damage per tick from a campfire but only like 30 on a normal level 50 pal so if you can keep the burn on you'll kill a lot faster also we are getting some kind of map increase at some point so new alphas means new legendary blueprints. the thing is if they added all the legendary blueprints at the start (early access still dont forget) then the map would have way to much alphas around and they would need to like double up on items for each map they make for rewards so from a game design view its good to have the extra items that you can make legendary Blueprints for without having to make every 20+ new items just to fill a hole
i set up grapple points in my bases so i can move around faster like in one base its on a cliff side so to go up i hook the top side of a tower a built just for it and cancel while going up and it launches me way above my base and i can glide where i want. id also like to see a buff though it is disappointing
So how do you expect to use Hangyu glider while over-encumbered?
Also, you can use Direhowl mount at near level 7.
