Building outside your base doesn't work
Not sure if this has been captured or not yet, but a word of warning: don't build structures outside your base perimeter.

I didn't have room inside my base, so I built a villa just outside the perimeter with a bunch of furniture just to have something nice to look at. It stayed up for several days, but then suddenly I looked over and half of it was gone, everything crumbled into their components. At first I thought it got destroyed by a recent battle between some Syndicate Thugs and a Mammorest, but while I was gathering all the fallen components to haul them back to storage, the other half just randomly broke apart all at once for no apparent reason right next to me. I checked and it wasn't due to material nodes respawning (it would've broke much earlier than it did).

So in case you're thinking of saving space in your base by making your house on the outside, or creating smaller makeshift bases or caches scattered throughout the world to save time or whatever, fair warning that your structures will probably destroy themselves eventually.

Hope this is just a bug and that it gets fixed soon.

this is how it works in every survival game ever....literally. It's common sense, you put out the territory marker, it shows you your territory limits, you build within them.....Definitely not a bug, you just didn't put 2 and 2 together it seems.

That's probably structure deterioration, looks like you can disable it in the custom world settings

I don't think this will be too common of a problem because the game guides you into building a base fairly quickly, and the first component is typically the pal box.

But I also don't think the game signals that structures outside of bases degrade. That would be a good thing to notify people about.

i never play survival games, so thanks for "tha_t1p" i guess :dgirritated:

thanks Dusty, i'll check the settings, didn't know that was a thing

Huh, I don't know what the default settings for structure decay are. My defensive walls are outside my zone of control but they've been up for days without decaying.

It is a setting, set structure decay to 0 and you're all set

That is actually good to know, playing with my friends and we want to have our own Base so therefore we have stayed in our own guilds, was planning on building a no mans land type of base so we can all interact with the boxes and tables, might have to get the host to change that setting if its going to just come crumbling down suddenly.

Also to the other guy saying about it being common sense in other survival games, I've played plenty when it doesn't just randomly fall to pieces on a whim, typically they notify you as decayed and other players or yourself can dismantle them with little to no effort.

Or the base itself has no protection and can just be easily destroyed by others whenever they see fit.

Or even they reset the timer if the structure has been interacted with (of course this depends on the games building mechanics)

So yeah...not as common as they might think.

Once your base level reaches 15, you'll unlock 2 more Palboards that will actually allow you to build actual bases and base territory. I recommend building the second one by the SW side that has 5 to 7 ore mines so you can have an unlimited supply of ore bars and the 3rd base way up North in the dessert section where it has a bunch of coal mines so you can have an unlimited amount of silver bars. At the 2 mini bases just build 8 pal beds, 2 improve furnaces (you'll unlock it after you are a level 38 I believe), 1 berry farm, 1 wooden chest, and 1 hot spring (doesn't have to be the fancier version you unlock later on).

You don't have to micromanage them. The only thing you need to be sure is that you have 3 pals who mine at level 1 or 2. 2 Pals who do kindling, 1 Pal who waters, 1 Pal who plants, and 1 Pal who gathers. If you know how to play it right, you can replace the 1 pals who can do all 3 of the watering, planting, and gathering.

Then all you have to do is just pop over there once in awhile, head over to the furnaces and select either ore or silver bars to create. And whenever you feel like it collect the ore or silver bars and bring it back to your og base that you build everything else at.

I recommend building the 2 furnaces by the Palboard. That way if you are carrying too much weight by the ore or silver bars and you can't move, all you have to do is move the camera around and look at the Palboard and hit the fast travel button.

From there, you'll have an unlimited supply of both ore and silver. Trust me, you'll going to need it when you start leveling up higher to build or craft certain things because the amount you'll need to build or craft something gets crazy.
