When I restart the server, it does not lag for a bit. But as others join and trigger their pal bases (we have about 5+ bases on the server) , and do other stuff, it starts lagging within minutes of the restart. Has anyone experienced any servers with no lag and high traffic?
Game's a mess optimization wise even for people hosting on actual dedicated servers with their own RAM, CPU and NVME.
I'm running on a dedicated VPS (paying a nifty sum for that for 32GB, 500GB NVME and 8 Cores with a dedicated 300mbps optics connection) and I had to fiddle with a few engine settings in order to get rubber banding to a manageable level and that's just with 5 people online.
I can't even imagine how it would be on a non-dedicated server on one of those game hosting sites.. I wouldn't even recommend them until Palworld Devs do a hefty few rounds of optimization.
I know of another VPS I play on with 24 players (about 15-16 active in peak) and the lag is unbearable on those even with 6hr restarts and similar setup (though I don't think they've done the optimizations Ive done).
what i tested
in Palworldsettings.ini : PublicIP=X.X.X.X or local IP or internet IP no changes
in initiation parameters : -publicip=X.X.X.X or local/net IP / -publicport=xxxx or 8211 / EpicApp=PalServer no change at all
already use the firewall line commands
already did port 8211 fowarding, my internet support did so i think is right
idk what is wrong
You do realize SteamCMD is recommending you create a separate system account for security right? And only a second Steam account if the game requires it. Just use the anonymous login to run the server.
On their end, it just says connection timed out.
Have you figured out this problem yet? Or figured out what caused it? We had the exact same thing happen.
Yes, there is a bug that happens around that size that will crash the server shortly after startup. The crash files will have an errror "FMemoryWriter does not support data larger than 2GB" or "Trying to resize TArray to an invalid size of 2147523050" (error before the last patch)
We have a save that crashes after 10-15 minutes. As a test, I moved the save over to a Linux server and everything seemed to be fine, but eventually even that crashed with the same type of error. I am not sure why it took longer on Linux, but the crash log in Linux suggest it is crashing on save.
