As the game accesses all chests within the palboxes reach there is *less* of a reason to be 100% organized.
For instance I have one chest by coal nodes, one chest by metal ores and a chest between both my forest and stone nodes. The pals walk 3 feet and deposit in the closest chest with no issues.
I keep special items in my actual home and just throw crap in random chests outside for crafting. Dont really need to organize anything.
Put wheat last in the feeding box, they eat from left to right so if wheat is last they won't be able to get to it (assuming you have berries in the box)
Just like in real life.
I've gotten to the point of just rolling with the disorganized mess they make. That I don't have to chase it down to craft with it, I don't have to worry about it. If I needs space for something new I found, well guess I'm moving that random bit of what ever they put in that box.
Took me a while to adjust to this, but I've found it much more enjoyable after just accepting that it works.
