Egg Incubation Warming/Cooling? [SOLVED]
Anyone figured out why the heater/cooler sometimes works but not all the time? I built a small stone building, 2x2 stone everything, and even have a fire pit burning in the same room as the heater, yet my incubated eggs are still 'a little cold'.

Do I need to move to a hot/volcanic region or something? I've tried using 3 different flame pals and yet I cant get these eggs to warm for the life of me.

Anyone got a solution?

EDIT: For anyone who happens to see this (since it's becoming active again) I figured out the problem. I had my base in what I thought was a neutral temperature area, but it was actually a -1 cold area. After setting up a 2nd base in an actual area where the temperature was neutral the cooler/heater worked as they should, raising/lowering the temperature of the whole base by +/- 1.
If you don't know what the temperature of your area is, just look at the bottom left corner of your screen and you should see a gauge with a needle. Needle in the middle is neutral, anywhere left is cold and anywhere to the right is warm. The further the needle goes the colder/hotter it is.
EDIT2: Also, when night comes the temperature of your region, no matter where from what I can tell, will drop by at least -1 but others can be more extreme. In the desert regions of the map you'll go from blistering hot days to freezing cold nights, I don't recommend making your hatchery in any region/biome that has extreme temperatures.

Here is a link to a reddit post showing one location for a perfect hatchery.

To save a click the location is at -356, -74.
What makes it perfect is that it has a neutral temperature zone but once you move slightly it goes to a -1 zone. This lets you put a fire on the far neutral side to raise the nearby temperature to +1, effectively giving you a -1, 0, and +1 zones respectively. I use this currently and it's pretty dern good. Just build your base in the middle, where the temperature is neutral.

The heater and cooler only work when a Pal is actively using them to heat/cool the surrounding area. They don't work passively all the time.

I'm in a temperate zone and I hatch scorched/rocky eggs near a bunch of campfires, ice/water/dark eggs around 1 cooler with an assigned Jolthog Cryst, and then some incubators at normal temps for electric/plain/verdant.

Works pretty well. Some different times of day affect the temps a little, but I don't think it's worth micromanaging.

So in the 90 percent of the world that isn't volcano, desert or snow, it seems that Dark/Ice/Verdant eggs have no problem with temperature if left away from any cooling or heating sources. Electric and neutral eggs will be perfect if I set a campfire next to them. Everything else apparently likes really hot temperatures, but that campfire will at least cut the incubation time down by 50 percent. No amount of additional heating seems to increase this so I guess you just need to incubate them in a volcano or skip through the night in the desert.

i went with the cant be bothered option ( its clearly not working properly )

well, I like a regular temperature area with 2 sets of incubators. For most heat, you actually require high heat. That's like a 3+ level kindling worker with a cauldron. Now the cold side just needs a cooler Not level 4 and no ice boost. Then if you need the lower heat, your heater will be too hot, but with the cooler active on the other side, it'll bring it down 1, which would bring it to the right level.
