Good base locations?

I have a base just northeast of the starting location on that nice flat island filled with trees and open space and honestly its wonderful, you guys have any good areas that can fit an entire base and is more or less level?

Mine is at the major crossroad just after that abandoned church in the beginning by a lake. Pretty flat and has plenty of stone. Makes raids harder due to directions of attack being any direcrion but otherwise i love it. Hadnt thought of looking at islands for a base, maybe when i restart a new run.

Eh its less an island and more one of the slightly smaller chunks of land there. Still huge.

I was looking around the church for easy ore access so I may look out there. Once you can make stone walls its really easy to take care of raids. My current base they just run to whichever door I open, potshot a couple, then run to other side and do again as they try to go around.

Once you can live there semi stable the snow area way north, I have yet to be raided at that base in like 20 in game days and it's super peaceful/safe for the most part so long as you choose a good spot

I was looking at that area since I finally got the cold weather gear but I feel like it would be rough on my egg hatching.

Mines in the opening area. Raids have a trouble with pathfinder so they end up going away it's hilarious. And plus my base is only wood for now until I make it all stone so that's good for me. Gonna make another location somewhere though that has good mining spots

Small tip for base building.... Build a wood foundation first before you put down you PAL Box. A big misconception is that you need a wide berth of flat land to build a base and that's not true. If you build a wood foundation a little above ground level then you can continue to build everything on that. There are very few structures that actually need to touch the dirt to function.

Can always save a base slot for egg hatching, it's not as bad as it seems though so long as you're not rushing the breeding

Our base is at the far top let hand corner. I believe it's the best starting point. Plenty of varity of pals, statue of power, a dungeon with sulfur, coal, iron ore, and the blue rocks. It has a tree in the crater that spawns fruits, two iron ore in the middle of a huge forest.

Best is kinda hard to say cause it really depends on playstyle, if you're super casual I could see how that's pretty good, if you're experienced though more southwest is better as there's clusters of like 8-13 ore veins and dungeons which have super powerful pals both early and late game along with paldium veins in said dungeons

I moved my Base yesterday from the starting area to that outlet south of the giant skeleton in the water: got way more room to work with for now.

The best starting area for speedrunners is the farming village far to the south west of the map below the coast of the volcanic region in the west side.

Lv40 merchants there with the ability to buy fire crossbow, fire arrow, makeshift handgun, and a few ammo types.

Get that fast travel point and you can sell lv10-20 pals for money (they give about 300~1000 each at that level) or farm a lot of eggs (easiest resources as they sell the same as berries, and feed slightly better, and ranches only requires chickens, not a planter/water/harvest cycle.

buying a berry or egg is 50 gold, you can sell them for maybe 5-10 gold each?

This means once you increase your base levels you can make multiple ranches and just store only chickens for tons of eggs to sell.

Ranches also seems to have a size and quantity limit, 4-5 small pals, or 2-3 medium, or 1 large.

Yep i just have started my third base there today. No raid can reach you and i have my essentials
