Grind is starting to kick in around level 30.
Anyone else notice this? Particularly towards Ore. Everything in the middle game seems to rely on Ingots sometimes two or three per item (tons for base building items). To get ore you gotta find good node locations and spend time mining and transporting then smelting them at a 2-1 ratio. Even with weight increases and Cativas for their bonus you can only bring so much with you at any time. Then you burn through the supply of Ore pretty fast requiring you to go get more ore, rinse and repeat.

It's particularly notable because there's no way (yet that I've gotten to) to negate the grind like there is for Wood, Stone, Fiber or Palladium.

Might be worth something for a rebalance look in the future? Reduction in carrying weight costs or making ingots a 1 to 1 ratio?

I was able to setup a base at ore nodes, leave to catch more pals for xp, then came back to well over 800 ore in the chest i had set. Currently up t 1500+ ingots i now dont need, because i need refined ingots.

Set up 1 main base + 2 bases with ore farming (you need 2 bases for ore mining if you don't want to have to wait for ore). No need to manually mine it.
You can pick up items when next to palbox and get overweight and still be able to teleport to your other bases.

I am level 50 btw.

Here's how I eliminated the grind:
Find a location with 8 or so nodes and build a base there.
Deploy a box right by the Palbox so that resources go in it.
Deploy miners and transporters plus whatever else you need to make them not go crazy.
Pick up all ore out of the box then fast travel to main base.
Deposit all ore in another box right by your Palbox at the main base.

Would if I knew where it is. I guess I could look it up. I've been using the Boar to get the Ore faster then just mining.

South West island. Craft heat resitant gear before :).
Pinking boss (~level 23 I belive) is a good alternative.

Some locations have very easy access to several iron ore nodes within walking distance to the teleporter. I'm not saying there isn't a good amount of tedium tied to mining ores, at 40 ore for every node it adds a good amount of busywork, but you should be able to cover most of your needs fairly quickly when it comes to it even if you don't have specialized mining pals.

Of my current 2 bases, one is strictly for mining ore. I check back every now and then, come back to my main base with around 300-400. Then after about 10-20 minutes I'll have the bars. Get those turtle guys from the desert, and those night time Tombats or whatever they are called, so you'll have some production nightly.

If you don't dedicate a base strictly to mining, it might feel far more grindy.

I have an easy fix to this... Aside from the obvious "Place a base down at a heavy ore location"

Keep 1 palbox freed up at all times so you can place it down when ever. When you find your ores. Place your box down, and mine as much as you want. When you're overweight, even by thousands upon thousands of it. Just quick travel to your base and throw the ores onto the floor. The pals will pick them upp and organize them while you are gone. Voila, you just saved hours of work and your mining efficiency just skyrocketed.

And best of all, you can remotely disassemble a palbox and get a full material refund so you can place it own at a new spot after. You can also use this trick to make fighitng open world bosses much easier or faster. Place a palbox down, pull out the needed pals and they will all gang up on the open world boss with you.

What about raids? My main base is getting raided pretty consistently by level 20+ enemies. If I just set up a mining base with just miners and transporters I don't know if they could defend themselves.

What I did was place only a pal station and mine myself. Teleport back and forth. My last base is basicly a mobile base. Certain Pals also increase the amount you can carry. Once I am done I just do other things like catching in the mean time. I wish there was no limit to the number of bases you can have.

If you get attacked just destroy your base and wait until the raid is over and rebuild it.

If you get raided too frequently, put some of your heavy hitters in that base. Pals not in your party don't level scale so they will be full leveled. So you can have say a level 38 mammorest in your party if you managed to catch it early via my previously mentioned palbox cheese. And making sure you went and picked up some giga balls off the floor. Sure you won't guarantee the capture, but if you fail, just flee and get more giga ballls from the floor and try again. Eventually you'll be about level 15 or so and have a level 38 mammorest at your disposal. It makes life so much easier to have that big boy at your beck and call early.

Just destroy the pal station wait until they are gone and rebuild. The bases will not get attacked if you are not present.

Enemies don't raid if you're not there. If they raid while you are there, just teleport away and wait for it to finish. Nothing bad will happen while you're not there.
