The ingot drain is too high in this game.
Drains:
- All monsters get sick, even working at normal speeds and when well fed. Most of the medicines cost ingots.
- Gear crafting and, more importantly, gear repairing costs significant ingots. And gear breaks pretty much every boss encounter if you get hit.
- I just realized I could keep making a list but basically everything requires ingots after level 20 and I spend so much time trying to farm ore that it breaks the enjoyment of the game.

The biggest problem with the ingot drain being so high is that even when you have an ore base, you can't set task priority on the Pals. It seems if they have any other skill other than mining, they prioritize doing that function over mining. Transporting berries and chopping trees both have a higher priority than mining for some reason. And when they are mining, they prioritize rocks over ore, so you have to delete your rock quarry.

More to my frustration, even when using Pals that only mine, I catch them doing literally nothing all of the time. I try to pick them up and throw them at an ore node and they just walk away.

I always keep it on normal mode.

How are you getting the pals to effectively mine the ore?

Please share your exact setup with me if you dont mind. Like what pals you use and what you are doing to keep them on task
Get the spiky turtle, it only has mining level 3. You can get a couple others just to maintain food for them but yeah just digtoise and transportation pokemon. I even have a couple of kindling ones at my base as well

DO NOT USE digtoise.

They are bugged, They do less dmg then dumond or tombats. even at level 3 mining.

When they hit they do 1 dmg, roughly 10 times. If they hit the ore with all hits and sometimes they spin into the ore and it puts them on top of it, and literally cant hit the ore at all.

tombats hit for roughly 27 and dumonds roughly 30. They will do more then a digtoise will.

ok wow. so ill build these and get the better beds. change my pal config.

i appreciate the advice all
Yeah, I think the way it seems to work is not "If pal is stressed, it will try to get in hot tub, and if hot tub is occupied, it will freak out" but is instead "if there aren't enough hot tubs for the number of pals, they will instantly freak out regardless of whether there appears to be tubs not in use sometimes." Same with beds, if a pal doesn't own a bed they will start getting stressed immediately, they won't wait until they are tired and then if there is no bed get stressed. Something like 1 tub per 2 pals seems fine, perhaps you could go less.

You dont need that many hot tubs. I had 2 hot tubs, and switched over to the better one when i hit 30 whatever. only have the 1.

Tombats for Mining 2 + never sleep, or Digtoises for Mining 3.
Don't bother with any Mining 1 pals, tried a few, they won't touch ore.
Tombats will need a few hot tubs for sanity management.
There appears to be a large but not infinite range limit for pal activity.
My bases are East of the world map, if I go very far west, they do nothing.
If I stick to the center / eastern half, they work just fine.

I have more than I know what to do with. They rarely get sick. Wall them away from other parts of the base. Make sure they have access to a food box and have a transport pal to box up the ore. It doesnt seem direct bed access is required. Their own hot tub helps.

The assignment breaks with the rock, so use walls. Same for farm plots if the need changes to something the pal doesnt have a skill in.

Simple.

A metal pickaxe can knock down those ore veins very quick. Just drop the ore and all your transport pals will start taking it to the storage containers while you mine another.

Have one of the dark bat pals (forget the name) or a penguin king that looks like a pirate. They have level 2 mining AND they can transport a lot of ore as well.

Get a mining foreman in your team, upgrade your work speed a few times, and then just spend like 20 minutes mining ore. You'll have like 500+ ore. I've never had a pal get sick yet... I hope that doesn't become a common thing, I'm only level 21. I have had one get injured, but it's cuz he somehow got yeeted high up in the air and got stuck there until I resummoned him with the palbox lol.

There is an area in the desert place that is popular with people for mining, it's large and flat and has 8 iron nodes. For low level starting out i put Tombats to start with as you need someone with +2 in mining to get them mine the nodes. Then i have a few of the Killamari just so they pick up the ore fast and put it in boxes. They are also small and don't get stuck on anything.
You can choose what you do. Have that as a dedicated ore collection base or set up that base as a full and complete base. Make sure to craft fluffy beds and put a couple of the hot springs.

Once you're more advanced you can get some of the harder and more efficient pets. Vixens are really good for both collecting, smelted and handiwork. They have +2 in a lot. Oh. Build berry farms and put a food pot down for them. Put someone with +2 or +3 planting and +2 watering down. (Just take down some of the bosses, the flower lady and king penguin for those 2)
They will take care of their own food after you've put a couple of berry planters down.

Don't build everything close and tight together. Build everything with an almost invisible box around it. That's almost like the pal pathing. I never have issues with them since i did that. They can walk up to stations and around them no problem.
Good luck. Happy hunting!

The level of skill they have in the job dictates their priorities.

I dont think thats true because my anubis consistently ignore handiwork tasks to go mine the stone quarry and dont stop until i fast travel away and come back

Someone with +3 in kindling will smelt it faster than someone with +1 in kindling.
So it is more than just dictating their priorities. You will get multiple bars at a time per tick with the +3 than the +1

the one exception with digtoise is one you have in your own party if you got its equip item... that digtoise does hundreds of damage at once... but it only applies to ones in your party unfortunately.

Happened about 3 times so far, and I'm only 4 hours in with 7 pals at base. Pathing issues, especially in base, need a patch ASAP

I've found penguins love appearing at the tops of trees when I spawn in. What are you doing there? You can't fly, even if you do have wings...
