You played yourself.
Edit: That or the game scales with your level rather than how many pals you catch.
But, yeah, you get a large chunk of bonus experience for the first 10 catches or hatches of each pal.
Thanks you all, so the best way to get XP from capturing is to get 10 Pal A, then 10 Pal B, and so on. Do you know if the order matter? Like, getting A, B, C, A, B, C... or just go A 10 times, then B 10 times? By the way, that special version (the ones making sound) is a different catch? I got a huge chicken in my first playtrough, I don't know if the game defines that by a different catch or the same, but rare/legendary.
I did a hatch and catch method. I got a nightwing and it's harness and flew around collecting eggs, effigies and teleport points. And while the eggs were hatching I'd go out and catch pals or collect more eggs. Do what ever you find fun. You might find it boring just hunting 10 and then the next 10 and then the next 10.
I have hours where I don't get much exp and hours where I get two levels done.
Bosses and shiny pals are treated as a regular catch.
So, just get 10 of each, doesn't matter the order, doesn't matter the rarity.
