Steam Deck doesnt start the game
Hello there,

my steam deck does not start the game since today. There is always the steam logo and after a while it returns to my library. I had no issues until today.
Does anybody has the same problem and maybe a solution?
Thanks in advance and best regards.

Thank you for your fast reply. After I restarted the deck and switched to default proton version, it works again.
Thanks again and have fun.

How does it run on the deck? Smooth enough?

Hi,
for me (I dont need 60fps) it runs well. I dont know how it runs on the LCD version, but on the OLED it runs well for me. After seven hours gaming, I only had this problem I mentioned here (which was solved after a restart of the deck).
I had no crashes or framedrops until now.

I have an LCD Deck and the game ran acceptably but controls weren't as easy as PC with M/K. My wife who isn't a huge gamer really likes Palworld, and started playing on my Deck, but now she's playing on PC with M/K and even never playing a WASD style game before, she finds it much easier to control and no longer frustrated with controls.

That said, my Deck also crapped itself playing this game... not saying the game is responsible however. The game would play great then after a couple hours turn into a slideshow. Exiting the game didn't fix, even the Steam interface was sluggish requiring a full reboot to resolve. It happened against after a couple hours of playing this game. Unfortunately the 2nd time it became sluggish reboot didn't work, Deck would just hang at a black screen. I had to reimage and purge user data to get the Deck to boot again.

Hey,
Thanks for the informations.
I own the LCD version but I don't mind if the game runs at 30fps. As long as there aren't too many framedrops. I don't need 60 fps either, I usually cap my games at 40fps on the deck.
I'll get the game then.
Have a great day.

Have you tried to change proton versions? It helped me a lot with other games. If you have not installed the program (via desktop mode) -I think its name is protonup-qt- I would recommend to do so.

In the following link you find all information how to install the program:

Dont be surprised, the guy in the video needed it to run batman arkham asylum.

I hope it can help.

Tried it on the LCD Deck and had no problems. Runs for me pretty the same like on the OLED Version.
