Any idea how to make Pals cook?

2 hours into the game and the cooking is just boring tbh, I don't wanna stay there holding a button for 3 minutes straight, anyway I can assign a Pal to cooking duties? are there any specific Pals that are capable of doing it?

Fire type generally. They have the Kindling ability on them. The higher the kindling, the faster they cook.

The very first icon. Looks a bit like a flame. They will cook and smelt ore. The small foxes (Firefoxes....) at the beginning do this well although there are others fair quickly that do it better with more 'other' actions.

Slightly different note. I often carry a fox with me at the beginning to me a mobile torch if I am gathering at night. As well as a cat for that nice +50 carry/encumbrance.
