- Check if you have unroofed building or try to rebuild the roof/wall (just 1 is enough, not the entire building)
- reinstall one of your workbench (go to build mode>disassemble and place it outside)
- If its works outside then replace your workbench inside your building again.
That's what I did, and it turns back to normal again, I don't know if that's really the case but should be worth to try.
(Doesn't explain why the traders can still trade after capture, though.)
The workaround I found is to just breed an Anubis, you can breed it easily using some common Pals (Tombat + Sweepa are the most common pals you encounter early on), you can find the breeding combos in palworld.gg, anyway, I breed an Anubis and as soon as I'm in the base I add it to my party and manually assign it to the job.
Anubis have lvl4 Handiwork so they're really really fast from the get go, but if you're lucky with your breeding you can get one with Artisian or Work Slave for some even faster crafting.
i also find it best to have each floor, 2 walls high for the larger PAL's (not sure if it prevents the larger ones from working, but just as a precaution).
also i play on hard mode. i haven't even gotten to a place where i can comfortably look at anubis yet, let alone consider capturing/breeding it.
i had the same issue before, and rebuild them (you need to move them a bit) seems to solve the problem.
