handiwork issue
anyone else having issues getting pals to work on benches inside a player built structure?

i have a Free PAL Alliance Devout with NO OTHER SKILLS besides handiwork. doesn't work on the benches inside my structure. tried assigning other PAL's to the benches whom have handiwork and still nothing. in fact i get the error message saying no available work in the area. i just want the PALs to craft me some ammo... thats all i want

any advice is appreciated

my friend got this exact issue too, all of his pals neglecting their handiwork job. I'm trying to figure it out and here's what I found.
- Check if you have unroofed building or try to rebuild the roof/wall (just 1 is enough, not the entire building)
- reinstall one of your workbench (go to build mode>disassemble and place it outside)
- If its works outside then replace your workbench inside your building again.
That's what I did, and it turns back to normal again, I don't know if that's really the case but should be worth to try.

there can be an issue with the structure the object is planted on, and it makes it hard for the pal to do the job, also remember that if there is ANYTHIGN else that can be done with handywork it may go and take over someone who is on a break with his job

Humans won't work. You can't pick them up and assign them to anything, and they won't use workbenches. The lore justification is that the sphere fried their minds, so they're pretty much just zombies.
(Doesn't explain why the traders can still trade after capture, though.)

I also had this and I tried literally everything from making sure they have a clear path to manually assigning them (they usually just abandon it and do other things), it seems that Handiwork is the lowest priority for the assignments, specially when you have high level pals (rare and higher) that can do multiple things at once.

The workaround I found is to just breed an Anubis, you can breed it easily using some common Pals (Tombat + Sweepa are the most common pals you encounter early on), you can find the breeding combos in palworld.gg, anyway, I breed an Anubis and as soon as I'm in the base I add it to my party and manually assign it to the job.

Anubis have lvl4 Handiwork so they're really really fast from the get go, but if you're lucky with your breeding you can get one with Artisian or Work Slave for some even faster crafting.

the ONLY true work around i have found. is on my built structures, i had to remove the doors.
i also find it best to have each floor, 2 walls high for the larger PAL's (not sure if it prevents the larger ones from working, but just as a precaution).

also i play on hard mode. i haven't even gotten to a place where i can comfortably look at anubis yet, let alone consider capturing/breeding it.

sometimes, you have to rebuild the crating station. sometimes the station is bugged when you place them.
i had the same issue before, and rebuild them (you need to move them a bit) seems to solve the problem.
