Why Are People Comparing To Ark?

From everything I've seen, and heard, saying this is like Ark is like saying Skyrim is like Dark Souls.

Open world, capturing animals, base building.. Ark.. not a hard thing to imagine.

Because they are very similar in gameplay. It's much closer than skyrim is to dark souls.

Looks like its got quite a lot of overlap. Survival gameplay, base building, taming and breeding animals, guns, beating the snot out of cute things with clubs. XD

Fine, I'll take this bait. To most other games out there Palworld is a lot closer to ARK than almost anything else. In what's pretty standard to the survival genera now you have to manage your hunger and temperature, when you level up you have points to put into skills and points to unlock different things to build, part of that is taming the local creatures to help make gathering materials easier and building saddles to ride them. There's the tech progression from barely better than a caveman to modern day firearms.

Personally what made me go "Oh this isn't Pokemon with guns, but ARK with pokemon" was finding out how the egg incubation system works. It's pretty much a more streamline version of what ARK uses. At least when a pal is born it's sent to your party or the box and isn't hatched on top of the campfires you used to warm it up.

Thank you, that is a much better answer than the hate speech from the guy who commented before you. I haven't played Ark, or this game. I am going off what I have heard. Still irritating that you labeled my thread as "bait". Seems to be the wild card people play when they see something they don't like, but the rest of your response was good.

the character creation is similar to ark you can kill just like ark you can base build just like ark, its not hard to tell the similarities to both pokemon and ark.

Sorry about that, just that I had assumed you had played ARK and thus you saw the comparison was a detraction. There's a lot of negative attention the game is getting simply due to it being popular as evident from a lot of the "discussions" going on here so legitimate questions and concerns are getting drowned out by people who only care to stir up discourse. Saw the same thing happen went Monster Hunter World first came out. A lot of the same topics too.

the engram system in ark is the same as tech points in palworld, replace dinos with pokemon. Gathering resources is almost identical. character creation is super similar. Building is close to what ark was when it first launched but its still not quite exact at all.

Overall it is very similar to ark but its more fun, it runs really well and its just feels better.

Thank you! All I know about Ark is it is a survival game that to me looks like RUST with dinosaurs. Meanwhile, people have been telling me this is more of a Pokemon action game.

You're definitely right about forums getting heated at release. I love Monster Hunter World as well, and that forum can get heated *now*. I can only imagine what that was like at release.
