Is ragebait always so common or is this game special?
Just looking through the discussion threads and 50% is ragebait which just confuses me. Like is this normal for steam?

Unfortunately yes during launch weeks for games. There was a lot of it in Armored Core 6's discussions pages as well, although in that case the community was insulting people for not being able to beat bosses, which was a dumb thing to do.
It's not just this game it's the entire internet.
Just think, no one talk ♥♥♥♥ about minority games no matter how bad they are. And tons of people talk ♥♥♥♥ about popular games no matter how good they are, why?
Because they dont care about the game itself, they care about attention. Bigger the player base, the more attention. Starting something provocative in their post is a great baiting strategy.
The big player base also contributed to contagious stupidity where people don't think and just go along with whatever other people say in desperate need of approval, confidence and sense of belonging that they cant find in real life.
Yeah the most recent funniest game release was Hogwarts. Bunch of right and left fools fighting over some BS about JK Rowling it went so far that some of the right wing bought the game to spite the left. But ended up hating it because it was to woke haha. Funny drama. Had more entertainment reading the forums than playing the game actually ^^
Yeah man, those death threats to complete normie streamers if they so much as considered buying Hogwarts were super funny. Just a shame that studio made literally *all* the money and they'll end up having to send more death threats when the inevitable sequel rolls around.
The thing is that it doesn’t help new players looking for information if the first page is drowned out by negative topics, steam awards is one of the worst thing.
just people pretending to be offended to get steam points
It's an event at this point, kinda a freakshow you briefly poke your head into to see just how hilariously off the rails they are, but never really expect anything lasting or meaningful. Strange days when you end up with better discourse on Reddit of all effing places.
I think the ragebait stuff probably increased when steam started handing out forum awards. They're mostly meaningless but they do provide that dopamine hit for people, I guess?

I think things will probably settle down later.
It has become a trend to farm points/awards by a small percentage of the Steam community. Best to not give them the awards and thread bumps they are looking for.

Just the death rattle of a dying ideology. Pay it no mind lol.
If its a good game the forums are bad.
This place reminds me a lot of Hogwarts Legacy around release. People need to let off... steam... at least once a year, it seems.

its just steam mate, i remember when hogwarts legacy came out, that was fun. "this game is racist" (apparently having goblin villains is racist ?) "this game is woke" "this game encourages animal abuse because you use magic on cats"
basically a game could come out about the most innocent thing in the universe and someone would call it our for something. if animal crossing ever came to steam people would call catching the butterflies evil
It's popular and the terminally online twitter morons caught wind of it, par for the course really. Just block and move on with your day.
I've been on the steam forums for years and whenever a game is released it's 80% rage bait/clown farming 20% people trying to have conversations being drowned out by trolls. It's endearing how consistent it is
