Found out how to fix! | Stutters, stutters everywhere.
As the title says:
This afternoon we were testing the game (on another account) and game suffers from heavy stuttering every so often... so it goes from 70-75fps (3440x1400) to ¿1?, then turns back again to >70fps.

And I don't think it's hardware:
CPU: Ryzen 7 1800x/5700x
RAM: 64GB @ 3200mhz
GPU: Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB
Game installed on its own ssd, just for games (Kioxia Exceria G2 2TB), running on a local instance (offline)

Fix:
Set your windows pagefile AT LEAST as large as your amount of memory. at least 32GB.

Windows 11 was setting us quite a small pagefile size (6 for the system with 64GB ram, 8GB for another one with 32GB) and that was causing the stuttering.
Same applies to some other games (ie. Alan Woke 2)

* 32GB looks enough considering asset size.

Other than that, a pretty good game idea. Congrats 🤣

Maybe it's because the developers weren't expecting over a Million people to be playing the game all at the same time?

No, it's a local instance.

I think is due to UE5 + DX12 compiling assets on-the-fly

FOUND OUT THE FIX:

Set your Windows PAGEFILE AT LEAST AS LARGE AS YOUR MEMORY.

And you'll not have stuttering anymore.

So if you got 32 or 64GB of ram, be sure that at least is 32 or 64GB.

This definitely improved my issues (I had 16GB ram, Page file was at 9GB. Updated to 24GB). Much smoother compared with how it was before, but still running in to the occasional 2-3 second stutter/freeze whenever new assets are loading.

Really annoying when a Pal goes to throw an attack at me, then my screen freezes for 3 seconds, then unfreezes with me dead. Hopefully they resolve this in future updates

can you tell me where or how to do that?

Type "performance" into the start menu search, open "Adjust the appearance and performance of windows" > Advanced settings > Untick "automatically manage paging file size for windows" > Select the drive windows is installed onto > Custom size > Input number in MB (1 GB = 1024 MB) taking note that this will use your hard drive space as well. (Maybe try 1-1.5x ram size for minimum and 1.5x-2x for maximum)

okay thank you!
OP: i'm not saying the cause of your issue is your gen 1 ryzen 1800x but it's definitely sub optimal, get a 3600 or 5600 lol

You may be better off putting the game on your secondary SSD.

You can achieve similar results by just turning shadows down.

I have a 1660 OC, r5 5600G, and 16GB RAM AND still use an HDD for the majority of my games, and 90% of the time I run into stutter I just have to turn down shadows and AO (this game has no AO options), another 5% of the time I have to turn down effects too (totally depends on the game and what "effects" does in it), and the remaining 5% of the time I have to move the game to my SSD to eliminate stutters.

I don't feel like testing it, but I suspect your pagefile trick is working because you are (somehow) running out of VRAM and your SSD pagefile is making up for it...? Just a guess though.

Also pagefiles can kill SSDs.

Anyway just thought I'd share that, since my system is significantly weaker than yours, your only running 50% higher res, and I get no stutters without adjusting pagefile; so maybe this info is useful for you. :rl2shrug: good luck and i hope you enjoy the game!

This doesn't sound like a good idea at all, especially for people using SSDs because caching on SSD will greatly reduce their lifespan.
Caching (the page file), should happen when there's not enough RAM, if you have enough RAM then it shouldn't be an issue, and it's always better to rely on a bigger amount of RAM than a bigger swap partition/page file.

Since you have quite a decent amount of RAM I suspect your problem arises from your old CPU/motherboard that might not be handling the data stream efficiently enough.

I have a Ryzen 7 2700X, 48GB RAM, RTX 2070 and play in 2K with everything maxed out and I never encountered any stuttering, my page file is set to 3GB and hopefully it will never be used.

Edit: I'm on Windows 10 and game is installed on standard high performance HDD, I only have my OS and main programs on SSD, not games.

I have only 16bg of gddr5 4400mhz and have had no stutters what so ever. No lags either, my fps would go through the roof if I didnt limit it to 90 (dunno why there is no 75 option but has 30, 60 and 90+)

We're a dying breed around here. So many have been blue-pilled into SSDs being necessary.

You can lock the FPS to any number you want in Nvidia Control Panel or Radeon's Adrenalin.
