Any way to make it so pals don't put random junk into all my containers?
I can't seem to figure out a way to limit what items pals put in certain chests. I have one chest for stone, one for wood, one for wool, etc, but pals don't seem to care which chest they put stuff in, so all chests end up with a mishmash of random items eventually unless I stand there and sort the stuff they put in.

Best I have found is place the crates closest to that resource. i.e. put the "wool and eggs chest" next to the ranch. Put the "wood and fiber" chest closest to where they chop the trees, etc. Would love it if there is some way to do it I haven't thought of yet.

That seems more like a band-aid solution for a missing feature that REALLY needs to be added.

There isn't they will go to the closest chest from where they gathered the resource, its annoying yeah, but it doesn't really bother me

You may have noticed that these creature are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Early Access. Most survival craft games don't have crafting stations that'll utilize resources from any storage container in your bases radius. So they're already ahead of the curve.

All food related items are picked up and put in a feed box, no matter the distance.
So you might wanna put your feed box and farms in the area so all food goes into feed boxes, but you also wanna put the resource stuff away from the ranch/farm area so the nearest 'chest' to drop off stuff is a deposit box near the farm.

Try to measure the 'pathfinding' distance from one resource to a storage container, that 1st shortest route to a container will be the ai's goal.

Also branches and stone regenerate on the ground under your base, so pals will start 'gathering' it and put it in a nearby chest that the regenerating resources spawn at.

most survival games also don't artifically limit how big your base can be, so by that logic Palworld is behind other survival games. It's also not exactly a difficult thing to implement. Seems more likely the devs just used very basic logic when making the worker AI

what i do is i split my stacks taking up all the slots of what i want to go in there and put it close to what i want to go in there example cooler next to eggs ,milk, wheat and berries and split stacks till it is full then they will most of the time put it in there unless one of your slots in something else becomes empty thats close by just have to watch it if its like a feed box like mine they will start throwing it in there if they go through food or it auto sorts. works really well for a good hour or 2 though

all chests can be accessed from the crafting menu. the box it is in is irrelevant. dont even waste your time till a better sorting method is created. embrace the chaos.

Split stacks and fill the chest with w/e you want to go in it only.

Pals will prioritise the closest chest, but that also relies on their pathfinding and not getting distracted by something else, and ending up near a different chest when they do their proximity check again.

That said yeah, agree with above. For chests you use yourself (like equipment of blueprints), just put them out of reach of Pals so avoid random junk in them.
