Pals stop working when I leave base?
This problem start when I build up my second base. Everytime I teleport away from anybase, Pals pause their work and when I'm back everything stay same as when I leave, If I want Pals working I have to stay at base. Anyone know how to fix this?

The point I was trying to make is that I do not see changes in my boxes or mine / logging progression on the broken base. I have a base for coal mining that's broken. Overnight 0 new coal, but I have 2000 new ore at my quarry base. But if I am at the base, then I can watch them mine coal and put it in the box.

If you do have a server pay for dedicated CPU's and min 32gb ram and tick the option for Leaving your body in the world when you leave the server. Your pals will work like normal. But you'll have a huge increase in cpu/ram usage.

I have a good server for me and some buddy's. I have it public but not like anyone can join with a lobby list of max 200.

You'd be looking at around $90 per month but it's well worth it.

I have played on a few different dedicated servers and the BUG that the OP is talking about very much exists. Perhaps it doesn't effect everyone, I don't know, but I have experienced the exact same thing on 2 separate playthroughs starting when I made my second base for mining. Unless another player visits that base, pretty well nothing happens when I'm not there, including pets eating. If I go too long without visiting the base, like at night, or when working, I come back to incapacitated, weakened, depressed pals and nothing done. Whatever is supposed to be happening when I'm away, whether it be graphically rendered, or simply calculated, is not happening....

Not sure what is causing the issue but it defenetly is an issue. I did have 3 bases running fine on a Dedicated server. Filled up food in all bases went to bad came back to 1000-2000 Iron/coal in the morning. Now nothing happens over night. leave with 200 ore come back with 216.
Havent found what causes it though since my sulfur base still worked.

For the people where the pals are starving etc. on a dedicated server that could also be due to server crash/restart. very annoyingly when the server reboots all pals are frozen above the palbox. is nobody loads the area at least once they will remain there do nothing and die.

if it is not dedicated server i think they will stop when you stop

The game has a massive area so to make things work the game has to stop the animations of the pals when you far away outside of the area of your base and based on your pals, working stations, productions in progress, etc. It calculates and do it by itself without the interaction and animation or rendering of the pals. But this way in case of mining nodes instead of work stations the amount that is mined or trees that are farmed are significant lower than when you are close to your base. If you wanna see high numbers you have to let your PC on while you are in the base or on a online server and let food for them to eat for hours like 3k+ baked berries or food that give them more fullness, also using pals that requires less food or eat less is also an option.

That's not the case, what animations are you tlaking about if pals mine 0 ore. 0 materials from farm, etc. in an hour? Clearly in some cases when there is no player near bases gets unloaded copleatly and nothing happends there.

If you fly near the base in question (not in los, just close enlugh), you'll start getting notifications abut pals, and if you teleport or go there ore accumulating.

This thing never happends with he main base, it is always "on" and working.

You are right but only in multiplayer, in singleplayer is different. About notifications no matter where I'm in the game I still get them. Since OP didn't say if it was in single or multi I assumed it is singleplayer mode.

U just need to activate multiplayer in your world. :) thank me later

I have also paid attention at this. (singleplayer)

I found this out when I made my second base next to the church where Ores spawn.
I put 10 driller turtles there, 2 berry farms and 5 pals to maintain the food and transporting.

I checked back time to time to see how food is at the base, cuz I was unsure if 2 simple berry farms could handle 15 pals. But there were always 200+ in the feeding casket so it seemed fine.

I went on a longer exploration and when I needed ore, visited the "mining base".
I had 5 ore there, the same amount when I left...
Food 200+... I was like, oh my god, they really stop working when I'm not there. But they DO EAT because I see the notification appear at the left side:
Drill turtle ate berries...

So I guessed I will afk there while I do some chores around the house.

I came back after like 30 minutes...
All my turtles were hungry, they were swarming my character for food.
I checked the casket... It was empty..

Not just that they do not work when I'm not there, they also eat much less..
I got my ore, yes, they mined all the ores. But only because I was afking there.

Having an ore mining base is not so useful when you need to be there for progression.
Needless to say, my own turtle mines ore hilariously faster compared to the ones kept at base because of the harness. I could mine the ores faster with my turtle than waiting for the ones assigned for the base to mine it for me.

Hopefully it gets fixed eventually.
Automation does not work that way..

nope )
Same thing in my sp game.

I'd forsaken the idea of functioning second base. For ore mining - just put pal box + storage near. Then summon ore turtle and mine all the nodes in 2 minutes. Teleport back to main base with ore. It is more efficient then second base, until it fixed anyway.

I built my second base just south of Lily's tower, on top of the mountain with the coal and ore boulders on top. Leaving enough mining pals in the base with crates and basic infrastructure, I come back to it from exploring finding that it produced 100-200 ore per hour.
Now that my first save file has been corrupted (RIP bozos) I'm thinking of just building my first base up there instead so I can jumpstart the ingot production. All it takes is stone foundations to make the whole thing walkable anyway.

Nope, did the test, I have 2 bases close to 2nd tower boss went to volcano area where the 3rd tower boss is spend an hour or little more hanging around catching pals came back all my pals where frozen but got all my production done, less food in the basket and more resources in the boxes, less than what I should have if I was in the base afk the amount produced is less when we are very far. Forgot to tell, obvious one of them was stuck on the tree logging side... lol

I hear its because optimisation that's why they freeze when you certain distant from base which is sad tbh, kinda defeat the purpose having second base

I don't know about if you're playing single player, but if you're running a dedicated server they keep running after you leave (and even after everyone logs off). Source: 20 thousand pieces of wood.
Actually even in dedicated servers this happens thats why I am reading this

The problem here is the turtles are bugged. There's videos online that show the turtles mine less even when being watched and they eat way more food than others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcg27SeUh0E

In general when you get too far away from your base the game unloads the base and simulates work which means that for the most part they won't farm any objects in the environment as fast as when you are in the base/nearby. All of your production buildings/tables continue as normal because the game can simulate that while you're away.
