So how does the breeding work

It seems super random.

I'm trying to get a female Lyleen because I have a male one (and I'm highly sexist when it comes to stuff like that. Female looking mons have to be female. Period) and I want her to have better perks while I'm at it.

I threw my male Lyleen into the breeding ground with another plant Pal figuring that the egg will be one of these two but...I got two frozen eggs. So that roughed up my theory. I tried to google but all I found was that I could put a dark pal into the breeding ground to at leats get a Lyleen Noct but after doing that I got an electric egg?

I'm super confused. How do I get me a female Lyleen without having my underleveled ass raid the spot where I found the first one again?

You need to have two of the same species to get the same species.

If you breed one and a specific type of Pal, if a subspecies exists then you can get the subspecies of that Pal

(eg Mammorest and Mammorest Cryst, for breeding a Mammorest and an Ice Type)

Ok, let me summarize: Whenever you breed two pals of a different kind and there's no special subspecies that can result from those two what you get in the end is just random?
