Breeding is ridiculous
I'm hoping that breeding will be different on release because right now it makes no sense. You get completely unrelated monsters every time. 1 dragon and 1 dark pal? Well here's an electric pal that looks nothing like the two you just bred. I don't get it.

Edit: Results are not random, you get the same every time, but they don't make sense. I was hoping for something closer to DQM in that regard.

can you be sure your dark pal wasnt getting a shock job behind dragons back?

So far kinda seems pointless, as bred pals seem to have f all to do with their parents.

I'm starting to wonder if it's like in Monster rancher, in which has a 25% of being either parent's species and the remaining 50% is subdivided into something else, or if it's straight up random.

A lizard in a hoodie... and almost identical lizard with red hoodie and fire affinity.
What do you get when you breed them? A boar.

Yep, it's kind of messed up. Short of breeding exact same species (not even variants), you can't really control what you get. And breeding rare mons is way too easy. Anubis was one of the first results I got.
I do hope they rework it but it IS still extremely useful for clumping good traits on pals and getting multiple boss/legendaries for infusing.

Well, this is very disappointing if true as it defeats the whole interest in that aspect of monster capture games. IE look at chocobo breeding FF7 for it done well.

I wonder if it is a bug. Definitely warranting feedback or bug report.

That doesn't make sense at all. It must be either a broken and unfinished mechanic. if just getting random monsters was the plan, that totally sucks

the female cheated while you were not at base

I thopught so at first, but there's a bit more depth to it then originally apparent. If you have two Pal's of the same species, if they have a baby, it will always be the same species and have an extremely high chance to pass on genes. If you breed two different species, their baby will be a predetermined species based on their matchup. IE if you breed a Chikipi and a Lamball, you will always get a Mau, every time. And they have a lower chance of passing on genes. It isn't random, just each race matchup has a predetermined result.

Figuring out what combos make legendaries is going to be time consuming. I was relieved to discover that traits are inheritable though. I'm trying to make the fastest possible mounts.

Pal A + Pal B = Pal C
Every time, it seems random what is what, but it is a 100% chance to get Pal C from this combo.
I've already use this to make a lot of legendaries for fusing, you just have to try and try to get to those epic ones.
At first I thought it was based on size, tier etc. but it seems kinda random afterall after having tried a lot of different ones with different ones.

It was the females fault, she had some other side guy and the chosen male wasn't the father.

Built a breeding ranch, but I need honey to make cakes, otherwise I can't start the eugenics program.

Oh! Excellent! Thank you very much!

That does make sense. Though from a player immersion standpoint a bit of a loss. Worth the recommend like previous said about being one of the two base types at random and then having modified from standard traits. Overall probably a more intuitive result.
