What are ideal Hard difficulty settings as default hard feels overtuned.

So what is some ideal settings for a harder game? I generally like the baseline Hard setting, but I feel the player damage taken jumping from 1x on normal to 4x is a little insane, when in your 20's stuff can basically 3-4 shot you on normal as it is. Might lower it to 2x. I also feel like imma adjust the death penalty so I don't drop my pals at least. Can you even survive hits past level 20 with the hard default of 4x damage taken by the player? Asking because on normal level 20 enemies hit me for about 200 and I am level 23 or so, I have metal armor. On hard this would be doing 800 damage or so with the defaults. Yeah yeah I know what your going to say "Just don't get hit" but sometimes you do, and on Hard when you do, I can see you just getting 2 shoted (1st shot nukes shield, 2nd kills) Not very fun when you drop items and pals. which I may set it to the normals default of just drop items.
