most played steam game is Ai generated
kind of sad how zero creativity gets you this far i guess, fans don't care. while there's developers that spend all day everyday drawing the art and designs just for the most played game so far in 2024 to be Ai. really sets the standards. imagine all the other companies with so much more work and authenticity having to compete with this ;/

edit: like my friend said, Palworld’s success is proof that, despite protestations, most people will cave & use an AI product because of some loophole. “It’s fun” “It doesn’t feel like AI” etc.

It’ll be a sad day when this happens on a wide scale for other creative endeavors. Books, music, art. It sucks.

More people spewing this misinformation, there is zero proof that Palworld is AI generated, also, they would be REQUIRED by Steam to say the game uses AI assets on the store page, as that is not said anywhere on Palworld's store page, safe to say it has no AI generated work in it.

Is that an actual rule where games on steam have to disclose using AI generated content? Can you point me to that rule?

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious because if I had to guess, that rule could be tied to the court cases currently moving through the legal system regarding AI and ownership.

The OP is likely just trolling for awards or because... I don't know, boredom?

Real talk though, I think... if the game were using AI to generate content, it'd probably be at the conceptual level. Like: "Make me a pokemon that doesn't exist but in the style of pokemon." The AI spits out some examples, they take one, refine it, then make a 3D model out of it.

But right now, there's no evidence of that being the case.

Perhaps one reason that certain people are pushing the AI angle so hard is because if they can prove that the concept art is AI generated, then that could fuel the whole: "Nintendo is gonna sue" thing. Because then they'd be like: "Palworld used AI sourced from pokemon to make their assets! Lawsuit incoming!" Or something like that.

I fully expect someone to make that argument in a thread by tomorrow.
girl.. boy, whatever, I literally want to buy the damn game but I just can't stand Ai and i dont want to play a game and be second guessing the designs going all "omg this looks so ai generated" everytime i see an animal.
it's almost like people forget discussions are for discussing, not everyone is bored or fishing for awards

Forgive me if I find that hard to believe when half the threads over the last few days have been blatant award farming.

Listen, I'm an artist, so AI directly impacts my future prospects. I'll tell you this much, better to just buy it and play it and not worry about whether things are AI-generated another day. No one here is gonna know with absolute certainty if any part of the game is AI-generated until someone gets their hands on internal company messages about the concept process.

Let me, worry about me, I don't need people fighting on my behalf. Go relax, go play the game, do something else with your time. And if turns out later that the game is proven, beyond reason of a doubt, with hard evidence, to have been using AI to generate designs, then we can all be mad at them together.

Till then... it's hard to prove a negative (prove to us that you didn't use AI).

Buy it, play it for an hour and see how you feel about it. If you are still too on the fence about some AI argument then refund it. I'm with people on lazy AI crap. So many Visual Novels out there are just AI art with some tuned prompts to create mostly coherent art.

I don't know how people think we are at the level where AI can just spit out a perfectly crafted 3D model. With or without bones, physics, textures, etc. AI just isn't there yet. At the parts of AI that MIGHT be there are not tools easily accessible to the public. Like others have said, if AI was used during the production of this game at all it was all at the concept level, and possibly at the Blueprints level in Unreal or other coding help.

There are some similarities in the pal designs with pokemon, mainly when it comes to specific details on pals. If you are a pokemon fan it's hard not to notice that fact. But that's an issue for a different discussion and not related to AI (unless any concept art generated from AI had those aspects and the designers were not aware, or didn't care).

I like how everyone just accepts it's AI generated without considering the fact that this game has been in development for a lot longer than the AI generation tools have been out for. Meaning at least the vast majority of the game's content would have had to been made without AI assistance.

Is there any evidence ANY of the content had AI generation involved in it? Best I've heard is someone pointing to some tweets on a personal account where one of the devs pointed out you could AI generate Pokemon-like creatures.

There is zero proof of using Ai to makes this game.

They've been accused of using it for concept art that would have been made BEFORE Ai art was publicly available.

If it means anything, the more established VN devs actually hate AI and actively refuse to work with people who use it or try to get them to work with it. It's just not worth the backlash from public or other potential collaborators who don't want to be involved with AI.

The ones who do use it are usually solo devs who are disconnected from the wider dev communities. Usually, tech bros or people looking for a quick and easy passive revenue stream. Those types are widely disliked.

About a year or two ago, people were more on the fence about its usage. But, now it's pretty much a: "If you use AI, we won't work with you" situation.

Fun fact about those tweets, they were cherry picked out of a larger thread, and stripped of their context.

And they make a fortune from 60 IQ peons who lap it up, the mobile gamers of steam.

The game doesnt even have any BG music, that's how soulless it is
