Agreed....maybe if the limit wasn't 20....
Have it be a gauge that caps out at 99%, and decrease over time, so the cooling effects stays active and a pal charges it up.
It's a little silly that a item gets 5x the duration when the cooling is constantly applied but suddenly lost when the pal decides to go for lunch or to go to sleep.
They need a refrigerant to do the actual cooling (in years past, it was Freon).
So it would make sense you'd need more than circuits and electricity in your gamer fridge, you'd need something that absorbs heat and transfers it elsewhere.
True but as stated above, fridges don't lose their temps the second the freon stops cooling it. Should last a bit with the pal just having to hit it to refresh occasionally.
I strongly second that. Simple yet effective solution for a rather annoying mechanic at the moment
I agree. That's why it requires ice organs to make. Replacing the refrigerant you speak of. A refrigerator that requires an outside source of cold is dumb. Just make it a larger cooler. It literally makes no sense. Refrigerators make themselves cold. We don't have to add ice everyday.
It isn't.
The limit's 10-15 on live servers unless the server settings are on the max of 20.
"Revamp Cooling to be more like Electricity."
I've heard both arguments, and either would work better than the current system. Even if they're trying to be realistic about it, temperature changes can take a very long time in an insulated system. It should take all night to reach a temperature which would threaten food. That, at least, would stop "Oh, the Pal needs to sleep, so all your food goes bad" from happening without introducing something super abusable.
Personally, I don't think a fix is incoming. Palworld seems mostly geared towards being all about the Pals. Player damage pales in comparison, and even if you spam Workspeed on your character, you will never keep up with Lunaris' Handiwork III rating.
Don't mistake my pointing these things out as a position in which I believe the things should or would change; I just feel like the devs want us 100% reliant on Pals, and therefore will be unwilling to loosen the restrictions on what players can do without them.
Moving Cooling to a system in which the player can choose whether to use Electricty or Cooling for the refrigerator will 100% result in 0% of players using their Pals for it. Moving it to Electricity only? Nobody will use the Pal-powered version. There won't be a reason to: Not when the item does not retain cooling overnight.
If they do allow Cooling to operate on a charge, like Electricity does, that will be the most effective solution to keep Pals in the loop. Charge up the fridge at daybreak, stow the pal until nightfall. Sounds great to me.
My pals are happy enough with their diet of wheat and berries.
