Wants me to create new character

Me and a buddy have been playing on official server NA 0014. We got around 30 hours in and just tried to log in after our server was down for 10 hours. It wants us to create new characters. Anyone else having this problem or a solution?

Your character is unique per server. Any time you start on a new server, you have to start from scratch with a new character.

I am having that problem as well. Just a bit ago after the server came back up (NA 0155 was down like all day) I logged into the game just fine on my character and in my base. I stepped away to do some house chores really quickly but had my headphones on. I came back when I heard the sound cut out (it lets me know I was kicked from the game because of connection issues).

I come back and try to log in. Instead of my character getting logged in it prompted me to make a new one. I am confused. I literally did nothing and my character data just...disappeared? It happened about less than 30 minutes ago. I hope I didn't lose all of my effort on my character...

Problem is most time sever not down like mine it just does not show up you have to Hard log in with IP then it works or for me it does

this exact thing happened to me on NA 0163. I have searched all day yesterday and found no solutions. sunk 40 hours into this character...

If you're playing on an official server, there is no way to fix this unless they decide to rollback the server using backups. If you're playing singleplayer or your own dedicated server, you can do this yourself. They've posted a google doc with a guide on how to do this on their Twitter.

My recommendation, for those who care, don't play on official servers for an Early Access game if you're not okay with frequently losing all your work.

So I have the same problem on 106 and just to make sure it was the server I was playing on I made a new character and guess what.. all my stuffs gone !! AND THE MAP SHOWS WHERE I HAD EXPLORED so ITS GONE GONE enjoy this bullsh*t

Early Access they wipe the official servers as needed. They warn you when you go to play on a server this may happen. They are battling the hackers and trying to stop them, updates may require server wipes.

If its official servers that's one thing, but a private that my friend just made that I've been enjoying did it to me too. The server/world with my character still there but it asks me to make a new character

No, there appears to be no fix. Our server got rolled back 3 times, so we’re holding off playing till they get their ♥♥♥♥ together.
