You need at least two levels of walls before the roof and you can't put a door on it unless it's one of the giant gates. It's probably a better idea to just leave a 4x4 space at the entrance with no walls/doors.

Pals can phase through walls anyway, until they fix the numerous pathfinding problems its best to avoid buildings at all. I routinely come home to my completely sealed base with pals outside the defensive walls (with no gate) and theyre starving/injured/stuck.

My base has no doors, I drop in through the roof, its a metal tower and yet my pals get outside of it all the time. I have full metal defensive walls, again no gate, pals walk right through it after phasing out of my base.

Raiding pals phase right through my defensive walls as well. Just dont bother until its fixed, put everything on the ground. Having a base with buildings means juggling pals in and out of the box to reset them when they get stuck 24/7

My dinoblossom got stuck with a 2 wall height.

Now made it 3 walls high flying mounts can move freely on ground floor at least.
But hope pathing gets fixed with an AI system that knows floor systems (stairs) and can recognize what building is on what block height.
And can path using is stairs abc connected with tiles to goal. Of not is stairs def connect with tiles to goal. Etc.

Floor 2: __

Floor 1 ____ /

1. /
Ground floor:___/

Yeah, pathfinding in houses is complete garbage; that's why I destroyed most of my house and left only the things needed for my bed.

I have covered areas for my own items, but any boxes or crafting stations etc that need to be used by pals are on an open stone foundation with no walls or roof close to it. Most of the issues I had with pals getting screwed up just went away.

Gates and Doors reset to closed when a server/save file reloads. They appear open to you (you can go in and out) but they are closed for the pals

You have to open and close them again.

Also you need a very clear path, some things they can walk through but other block way more then they appear. They have large hitboxes.

You will have to redesign your base alot

Even if you remove the door completely, if there's a roof many of the larger pals can't make it through.

Have you guys tried making the stairs outside only no inside stairs that could help on that part.

I think there is a bug - it seems to lead to issues if the min height of the wall isnt 1 wall tall.

I buit their beds in a room - they used all beds but not the ones that were slightly under a roof leading directly to the ground.

In general my pals also not seem to use indoor stairs and will just build stuff trough walls from the groundfloor.

I have a 12 block high base, each level is 3 walls high, and I have no pathing issues even with giant alpha bosses. But took a while to get the spacing right so no block paths.

There are only a few items (pools and beds) that do not have 'hit boxes' that block paths. But almost everything else you need a good on foundation space to be a path.

If they are not using the beds or pools, you have a path that is blocked.

There are many items you place that are 2.5 high, so it made sense to to 3 high walls. Since end game is mostly about breeding. I have 4 breeding farms in my 12 high box tower

So, is it reasonable for people to expect to be able to make bases like you do in most games, where a single or double floor is enough? Or do we need to make 3 wall high floors to accommodate the larger species?

Personally i'd prefer that they do something like scale the pets as they enter a building, use a LERP function so they kinda "sproing!" down in size, fit through the door and "sproing!" back to full size (or whenever they're able). Anything other than just flat out bugging out and getting stuck or flicking back and forth between objectives, etc.

Can't put doors on it, have to leave a wall open, a two story wall for larger pals. Pathfinding sucks pretty hard right now, and my pals constantly get stuck on things and starve to death. Found pals stuck on top of my house, stuck in the ground, stuck on small cliffs that they could just jump down from.

BUT THOSE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RAIDING PALS, oh man, they'd path straight up the side of a sheer cliff to get ya

I've got a 2 wall high farm floor on my base and even dinossom lux and a regular sized Azerobe wont move. boss sized bushi moves fine, boss petallia no problems. This is a solo offline world. I have a server with friends and we've got boss Blazamuts fitting in a 2 high space no problem...

EDIT: I tested these pals at another base and they move fine in a 2 high space. The base they dont work in is the circular spot south of Mossanda Forest FT. I get ♥♥♥♥ spawning on my palbox and roof too. Sucks i spent 10+ hours building it. Time to move!

All of my "handiwork" pals can get in just fine, the rest get stuck on everything, and there's a lake in my base area where they just jump into it rather than going around on the bridge I built to the island with the farming stuff and (with a huge open face so anything I have can fit into it if they come from the center of the base) pal beds... Which I've seen a grand total of two of them actually use. As long as they are built it seems they don't have SAN loss from sleeping on the ground around the feed box, though.

They also don't path around things well, put up the fountain at the corner of the building by the mill and fields then started seeing starving warnings... Went looking for them and six pals were trapped behind the fountain.
