I ll set the individual simple room for pals
but still sometimes it may stuck on buildings and cant move by itself
really annoying
Yeah, the pathfinding needs a lot of work. I tried building a second base near some iron resources to create a Mining Camp, but when I put the Pals down, they just glitched out and stood in place jittering.
i think its more like a server glitch where it shows you that they are on the ground but on the server they are considered in the bed because i see them on the other side of the base but if you look at the work bench it shows them currently working on a project. so theres definitely a problem with the servers properly communicating live data to our clients.
so i dont think they are struggling to get inside the house i think the server just isnt showing you that they are in the house.
BUT THOSE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RAIDING PALS, oh man, they'd path straight up the side of a sheer cliff to get ya
- First, I used my Alpha Lunaris, who was having trouble getting into buildings, to test the pathfinding. I added her to my party and upon release, she would try to move outside the building to get to the tasks on the ground.
- Second, I tested how big I had to make the stairs and it turns out what was blocking her from not only getting inside, but even walking inside the building, was HEIGHT.
She needs at least 2 BLOCKS OF HEIGHT free to get into a square (to be clear, I count a "block" as the size of a 1x1x1 box of floor, 4 walls and a roof).
That means the floors need to be at least 2 WALLS TALL for her to fit, even if it looks like she could fit in half of it.
- Third, she was still having trouble with stairs. After some experimenting I realized that the pathfinding appears to treat stairs INCLUDING TOP FLOOR AND BOTTOM FLOOR OF THE STAIRS IN ITS PATH. What that means is that the ceiling from the bottom to the top of the stairs must be 2 blocks of height above THE TOP OF THE STAIRS Basically, like this:
______ (ceiling)
........___ (top of stairs)
__/ (bottom of stairs)
ALSO, stairs count as a full 1x1x1 block rather than a half one. That means if you place stairs above other stairs, do remember to count them as if it were a whole block when calculating the height of the ceiling.
That's all. So far, my Lunaris can navigate my whole 4 storey building (8 blocks of height) from the 3rd floor, all the way back to the ground. Now I'm off to start placing lines and see if my pals get there on their own.
EDIT: 2nd and 3rd floor assembly lines are working. The pals can get all the way from the ground to them. Don't have a use for the 4th floor yet, but I think it will work too :D
Just so i understand it right:
Basefloor: Sleeping, 2 walls high.
First Floor: Productionlines, 2 walls high, no ceiling/stairs above stairs that come from basefloor
Second Floor: Farms (food/stock), no ceiling at all, basically 4 "holes" above the stairs from first to roof floor (don't need to leave ceiling above base to first floor open)
all in all: 4 walls high + roof farms?
basically like this for each floor/stairs (wall hights at the start of line, so 4 walls per story?):
4) ______ (ceiling)
3)
2) ___ (top of stairs)
1) /
0) ___/ (bottom of stairs)
update:
tried as written above - did work, as long as the building was barebones.
as soon as i placed anything on the ceiling, they stopped running up.
trying with two "empty" wallheights now.
update2:
okay: as Agent L said, you have to leave one floortile free over all stories.
if you have a berryfarm on ceiling, and the foodbucket on basefloor under it, they won't eat.
Place everything out in the open and never use walls or buildings as the pathing AI is more or less a joke.
Like they knew it was broken and did not work at all but released the game to EA anyway.
You spend most of your time in base moving guys in and out to reset them or you get back to your base to incapacitated Pals because they starved.
Flying pals are the worst they get stuck on everything.
Sall good though because its EA they can essentially get away with anything. Also because its EA I have no issue saying I didn't spend a dime on this unfinished product and I might buy it when its finished but I am also not going to do a single bug report or actually help them with development as they are not paying me.
The hilarious thing is reading what you people are trying to do to solve these issues. The issue is not solved by building your base differently.. The issue is solved when they hired someone who is actually good at programming to sort out their path finding or lack there of.
The only things that work with this game are so basic anyone who just learned how to code can do it. The multiplayer is also more or less a joke lets be honest the synchronization is just disgusting I have made personal projects in UE5 that use mySQL and do not have the same type of desynch they are facing its an absolute joke.
Company has virtually no overhead as this is a peer to peer multiplayer game. That being said.. who cares about PvP along with other additions to a game with a max server pop of 32 which lags beyond belief and has desynch issues.
PvP being mentioned is more or less useless with the networking in its current state. They mention it however because the average Gamer now is more or less a moron as gaming has turned mainstream and the average glue sniffing muppets have become the norm in the community.
So whats wrong with this game? I mean the easier list is what actually works.
Which is kinda bad as the day counter doesnt work.. even raids can break after awhile.
"The game doesnt crash"
Good on EpicGames for making a good game engine.. you understand that is what is giving this stability and performance right... Imagine if they had to make their own Game Engine.. ooof that would be a disaster and a half. So don't even bother mentioning performance or anything else.
I mean they did nothing for performance if they did it would use even less video memory as they would have properly compressed their textures into RGBA format as almost nothing uses the Alpha channel other than foliage. This means you can pack your normal map into your Alpha channel usually saving like 1/4th video mem usage.
but hey hey hey no one likes to actually talk about real things they prefer to listen to people yelling loudly while creating weird content designed for small brained muppets.
