Pal's keep changing job, won't finish what I start them on, how to stop this?
So i built a little house, im only like level 10 right now, and i have a logging/stone gathering spot in a big room at the back. It used to be open, but pal's kept getting confused, so i closed it off to just those 2. But whenever things are going on in the base they are still leaving their posts to attempt to do other things. The monkey-pal i have doing logging keeps trying to help plant the berry plantations, and the cat-pal i have keeps stopping mining rock to get the wood out of the lumber spot and moving it to a chest.
Can i just lock a pal to a spot to do a particular task? Is this a mechanic im missing or is there something more going on here?

This might be due to a bug with Pals swapping tasks with each other, as it is often unsuccessful. They are clearly designed to do it, but it doesn't always work.

yeah, got the same issue. I would like a mechanic to overview my buildings and assign them directly and that they stick to their task. When there is no work to do at this building, then, and only then, they can help others. But as soon as their work can go on they should run back to do the assigned task.

If you pick a Pal up, and then put it down near a thing, it will be assigned to that thing, and only do jobs on that thing.

How well they actually listen and if they will path properly is another question I am a little iffy on, but that may clear up most of the problems, at least.

I'm hoping, long term support > cash grab

The shortest answer I found to deal with this is using Pals that only have one crafting or one gathering skill, which fixes the skill thrashing. At least short term you can have peace of mind.

this is called free-will.. you can break the free will by picking the pal up(F) and placing it in the job it should do. it will do it until it is finished and only stop for short breaks(sleep/eat)

Not entirely true and there's videos out there proving it. There's an update now so hopefully no longer the case but before that, at the time of this post, Pal's would in fact switch jobs. But only if they idle, so like Handiwork type jobs usually.

Honestly your best option would be to find some Pals specifically designed for one and only one task. Being you're an early level still find the Eikthyrdeer. They sometimes appear around the area northwest of the starting area near the little abandoned church where you can find an NPC sitting by the fire in front of it. They can be somewhat of a challenge to catch but they have and only have level 2 logging meaning they won't do any other tasks aside from logging. Mining is a little more of a challenge but there are Pals who will only focus on mining you can also catch early on. Aside from that, picking up a Pal and throwing it at a task often assigns it to prioritize that task.
Maybe some of the pals have add/adhd. it sure feels like it at times since i had one pal work on crafting at a workbench outside then go eat just to work at a different work bench inside the house lol. So depending on how you have things set up that can also affect how pals work i guess.

This is with the current update as of yesterday V0.1.4.0
