What should i feed my pals?

I got a giant turtle but he harvests twice and is already heading for more food. I need something beter which can be automated so i can be gone for long stretches of time what are my options?

The best pals that aren't Anubis are also very light eaters, namely Verdash and Lunaris. I find that everyone else outpaces the work I have for them (Reptyro for mining, Jormuntide Ignis for refining) Honestly this is something they could balance more maybe.

Edit: I said Lunaris works at night but that's wrong, I was just using her manually at night and forgot.

Yea my turtle grabs 1 berry move to iron deposit spin for about 5 seconds and goes back to feed on 1 berry. Doesn't sound perfect to me.

Something is wrong with your pal. Also if you're using the spinning turtle to automate mining, don't. They are bad. They are only good for manual mining with the player.

My two Reptyro will delete 8 ore nodes and then it takes time for the nodes to respawn, so my bottleneck is not food, it's the resource spawn rate.

Berries only restore 15 nutrition and no sanity, so by the time a Pokemon with a huge hunger meter and fast drain is finished eating and walks back to his work area he's already reached his threshold for fetching another snack. You can watch their hunger meters triggering this behavior. Berries ruin efficiency for anything bigger than your first few starters.
But I agree that Bowser the diggy turtle is far less useful than fire Reptyro.

Seriously, my chickens eat their own eggs.

I have chickens in real life...and yes, they eat their own eggs. This is actually a problem unless you build in roll-away nesting boxes. True facts. They will also eat mice! Honestly chickens are both a bizarre and stupid bird.

Back to OP's question: I like to cook things for the pal feed boxes. Try giving them the buns (they look like jelly sandwiches). Better food means they will work longer and not get hungry as often so the higher quality food you place in there, the better...keep berries in the very last slot of the box since they eat from left to right.

The issue at hand here should be an improvement on food basket where pals eating food from - Meaning either a higher level-unlock variant with better storing capability (prolonged food shelf life before spoiled and wasted) and allow player to set hunger (to eat) at 75% hunger.

Because atm all pals goes eating at 50% and depending on the fulfillment of food you feed (berry for example is 1), Pals eats several per eating session and larger pals tend to eat like 5-7 berries for instance to get to somewhere between 75% to 85%.

With higher quality food basket that let pal go eat at 75% meaning it's easier to hit 100% and req less trips to eat..... i think

I keep seeing posts about making berry farms being an efficient solution. In my experience this is less efficient than putting two Caprity in a ranch. Caprity make berries much more frequently than a farm and only need Transport, instead of all the skills a farm needs.

I manage sanity with hot springs. I have seen a situation early on where a pal will only eat and do nothing else but figured out it was an infrastructure problem.

I use Caprity in the ranch for one of my bases yeah. My main problem is the ranch is big.

They help, sure, but they take time off work to enjoy those. High-quality food is more proactive at keeping them from needing as much downtime in the first place so your springs don't get overcrowded.

I mean I guess that works well, thing is my pals don't have enough work as it is. Later on everything requires ores which means I can't really produce faster than my miners can mine, and the miners are walking around with nothing to do very often. By the time I do get a lot of ore, smelting is so fast that I don't even automate it, I manually set artisan pals on it and convert all my ore in minutes.
