What should i feed my pals?
I got a giant turtle but he harvests twice and is already heading for more food. I need something beter which can be automated so i can be gone for long stretches of time what are my options?

Cooked berries are fine for starting out, but with that little nutrition your pals are going to become very inefficient workers because they'll be constantly going to the feeder.

As soon as you have wheat, start making jam-filled buns (51 hunger, 6 sanity), considerably more filling food and just as easy to mass produce as cooked berries.

Then once you get an electric cooker, you move up to pizza (184 hunger, 23 sanity, gives a buff to work speed and slows hunger), which is easily the best food for base workers you can mass produce with automatically gathered ingredients.

progression wise.
1. cooked berries (21 nutrition)
2. jam on a bun (51 nutrition)
3. salad (84 nutrition)
4. possibly cake? (656 nutrition)

by feeding them better nutritional food they will spend less time walking over the food basket and more time working, the sanity boost of each of these foods also get better which also allows them to work for longer

to be more specific, pals will always eat 1 thing when their hunger hits 50% and the feeding animation is quite long, so when pals in your base have a high hunger stat indicated by the amount of bread icons in their stats, theyll end up spending more time eating instead of working if you only feed them berries.

cooked berries are best bc u can mass produce them easy imo so u just put like 300-600 into their basket and it's fine for quite a while

but ye i also kinda have issues bc those digtoise (turtles u talked about) half time don#t do their work unless u afk around their spot and still munch quite a lot, even if they don't have bad traits

(glutton or slacker for example are traits that u clearly don't want on these things)

Baked berries are ridiculously easy to produce. Just two berry farms alone can carry a base of 20 pals. :)
Jam on bun. It is very easy to scale and keeps your pals fuller for longer. So they will take less breaks and be happy.

then you can go to tomato omelettes and or salad..
Your pal probably has a trait that makes it eat a lot. They can also eat too much if they are stressed. For me one berry patch is enough to feed a base of 15 pals. I started out with two berry patches but ended up with thousands of extra berries so I reduced it to one. I keep the food box close to where they work and sometimes have a second or even third one that I manually fill so they don't have to go very far. I sometimes cook food for them but mostly they live on automatic berries. I'll make them pancakes when I have thousands of excess ingredients.
I like to use the pancakes so they don't need hot spring breaks as much, the green chikpea dish gives the same benefit + faster work but you need lettuce farms going so definitely an end game food
get some cows and a couple wheat farms and feed them pancakes, pancakes not only restore some sanity when eaten but also slow the rate that sanity drops for a while, and they restore like 5x the hunger of berries

pancakes are worse than jam filled buns, and also more expensive to make

I'm not a fan of fandom wikis cause they have a bad reputation and terrible mobile UI.
Early game berry farms are for the low maintenance pals. early-mid game you want to start making food to feed them otherwise they spend a majority of their time just eating. Make the uh... Toest/Jam recipe. Late mid game you make salads, end game you make pizzas. The problem right now is that the pals just eat once and then get back to work. If they "ate to full" then you could get by entirely on just berries.

Maybe it's intentional to not make it so easy that you need to cook better recipes later.

Another vote for jelly on toast (or jam-filled bun, whatever).
Early to unlock, simple to cook.
Only needs berries and flour to make. Long shelf life, so great to carry while on expeditions.
I've been going with bread for the time being, but it's probably not the best choice.
Berrys. I have 20 level 50 pals and berries keep them happy. 2 or 3 feeding pots depending on how your base is set up. I have 1 tom 1 let to feed me and my team and make salads and its perfect.
