Pal Mental Breaks
Pals already have basic stress and mental breaks - (Pal) is stress eating, (Pal) is upset and went to bed.

Wondering about peoples thoughts for this possibility: (Pal) has had enough and is leaving.

I.E. If it has gone through enough and can't relieve it's stress another way, it will walk out of the base and disappear, maybe becoming hostile to the player if you try to stop them.

This could add even more variety of 'niceties' needed to keep Pals happy... Or ways to prevent Pals from leaving, allowing either a pleasant colony role play, or slave master role play, adding some more depth to the management.

If this is already a thing, please let me know as I haven't come across it yet; all I've seen is stressed Pals won't work.

This is a great idea and would be good for expanding upon different things already in the game. Could do with adding onto things like the hot spring.

I built the hot tub for mine to use 😻. Imagine if your work had a “you’re stressed out - go sit in the hot tub for a bit” option? Way less stressful experience.

If a pal gets stressed enough, they start getting injured. Injuries are expensive to fix (medicine takes a long time to make), and cause the pal to be almost useless for work. I had a dinossum become depressed, and it basically didn't do anything except eat and sleep. Having that pal leave would have been better for me, to be honest. I'm not sure the threat of a pal leaving is really a worse consequence.

Hadn't come across that yet - though you just made me picture a 'worker revolt' moment where a whole pack of them pick up and leave and take a ton of resources with them...

Hot tub and pancakes keep the stress away.

When my pals hit Sanity 25 they are too moody to work, so I put them back in storage so they eventually restore sanity and are willing to work again.

What puzzles me is I thought the pals were supposed to grow old and die. I havnt seen any evidence of this being possible yet?

The game just released into early access so I think that that is one of the mechanics that is planned but not yet implemented, kinda like factories.

I'd be ok with it

if i have to breed and level new pals over and over again because they die of old age, i definitly quit.

That might've just been a little more black humor, and not actually intended to be a mechanic

"Choillet! CHILLET! WHERE ARE YOU GOING, MY DEAR PAL!"

"I'M DONE, TRAINER! I'M JUST DONE!"

"No! What I'm gonna do without y--"

"NO! I'M DONE! AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THROWING ANOTHER BALL ON ME!"

really easy to manage, i wish they would get mad and fight each other sometimes lol

i randomly loot more medicine from various places than i need.

the biggest problem for me, is pal pathfinding. somehow, one of em will always get lost somewhere they cant get back from. in one case this appeared to be inside the cliff, where i could not even see the pal. another got onto the roof (5 story building, 2 interior floors). if you have walls, they will 100% get outside the walls, and the 'open' gate will functionally be closed. anything else fixes itself when they can get to the food, bed, and hotsprings.

yeah right now pathfinding breaking is the only reason my pals ever get stressed out, otherwise they're always in tip top condition lol. i rather have them fix that first before i also get penalized for these bugs

as u say if u build a defensive wall, they'll clip trough and bug out
if you have roofs they'll get stuck on top and bug out
if you have a electric cooler/heater they'll get stuck on top and bug out
if u have a breeding pen they'll go into eternal sleep and bug out
and so on :P

edit: there's even a mod now that respawns pals at the palbox whenever pals start starving due to pathfinding issues, and im pondering whether i should instal it

Sure that could work once the game is better optimized. Right now it's too buggy and unfinished for such a harsh consequence.
