Obvious asset flip?
I got this on gamepass. The first minute of creating my character I noticed several textures from another game (Tree of Savior.)

But the most blatant asset flip, is the animation. I've played around UE and I can tell the animations are either the presets/default, or some modified version. The walking, running, climbing feels clunky and "generic."

Interesting game, I wonder if this is going to be a grab and go game from this developer.

Update***

Since I was accused of lying and making ♥♥♥♥ up regarding asset flip. I am going to double down and claim this isn't only an asset flip, but a straight up low effort cash grab scam.

I booted up UE and went straight into the marketplace and found animations that are used in the game. So far, I found the mining, running, two animal idle animations.

Textures, I found eye textures, item textures, environment placeholders.

I booted up Ark Survival and colored me shocked, the UI is pretty much identical to Palworld. Makes sense since Ark Survival was developed in UE4 (Palworld is UE5.)

Now that 3d artist in the industry are speaking out and saying the models from Palworld are pretty much plagiarized and is theorized the developers of Palworld used AI to copies of the pokemon sums up the whole ordeal:

Palworld is a low effort asset flip cash grab that stupid consumers gave their money to.

Your wikipedia definition makes you objectively wrong and further proves my point...

1. Two games =/= "numerous permutations" of generic games and pal world and craftopia are VERY different.

2. The context of your definition also suggests that the game is made entirely on pre-purchased assets. You might not have understood this, given your...intellectual capabilities.

3. The term "shovelware" is used which means: A term for individual video games or software bundles known more for the quantity of what is included than for the quality or usefulness.

Which again Palworld doesn't qualify...
It wouldn't have set world records if the game was low quality crap.

Stop discussing things you have no understanding of. It makes you look silly.

BROOO. Just stahp, someone is gunna make you a meme. You're starting to look like a coping simp lmao.

It's an asset flip. Stop coping. If you're having fun, then it shouldn't matter hahahahahaha.

The only person who needs to cope is you. You clearly don't know what you're talking about and instead of admitting you're wrong, you continue to double down.... and for what? So you can gain a sense of smug satisfaction on the internet? Don't you have anything better to do?

The funniest part of this is he probably has dismissed me in his mind as a fanboy...

But I don't even own this game and have a completely open profile... I just hate when people spread misinformation and make completely false statements like the OP has done so many times in this topic.

So salty and wrong.
The game is not perfect but it is dang addictive, simple but fun. IF more developers do what these guys did then we can look forward to more fun games in the future at a reasonable price.
If Devs do what you seem to be promoting then we can expect more garbage games that cost stupid amounts of money and still have in game stores, boring game play, and not future.
the ARK UI part is a straight up lie lol, I played both. The UI looks nothing alike beyond the obvious (yknow, having inventories, crafting menus, chest inventories, etc.)
There's definitely inspiration, but that's because gameplay is also a parody of ark essentially. Hence using some UI positioning that is similar because... well, guess what, it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ WORKS for this type of game and conveys the information the player needs in a digestible manner.

Stylistically though? They look nothing alike. I'm not sure where the "asset flipping" point comes from there, even if the idea itself is not original. That's not what an asset is, lol.
People have ripped the monsters from Pokémon and Palworld to compare them and some of the similarities are more than just “coincidence”. The developers literally just ripped pokemon models and edited them slightly to call it original in many cases.

I certainly haven't made the argument it's original, in fact I even early on said if he felt it was unoriginal that is his prerogative..

My argument is that this is objectively not an asset flip and the OP decided to double down on his ignorance.

If someone wants to call this game unoriginal, that is their choice and they are perfectly allowed to have that opinion...

Just don't make statements that are blatantly and objectively false like the OP did.

And now he has dug himself so deep that he has no choice but to lash out with more nonsense and completely subjective statements with no factual backing to them in an attempt to save face.

Pity it isn't working on anyone but himself, but unfortunately that is what insecure people need to do to deal with their own self-loathing.

I use objective facts in my arguments and back what I say with proof..

You say "trust me bro" and don't back anything you say with proof.

Anyone with any semblance of intelligence can see you are out of your depth here :P

But feel free to carry on making a fool of yourself, it will just give everyone who reads this topic more insight into your... intellectual capabilities.
You used objective facts? Bro you quoted me a reddit thread as fact.

Stop, you're coping hard and now you're an official simp. The game is an asset flip. Majority of the assets are either pre-purchased or provided by the game engine (Pals excluded.) Palworld is a Craftopia clone but with pokemon, which by the way still in early access LMAO.

You're attempting to find flaws on the definition. You sound like your stereotypical "Ackchyually" redditor. It's embarrassing, get some help.

If this is about that cinderace comparecent screenshot where literally everything circled is actually different, I'm gonna wheeze, lol.

Stay mad I guess.

It uses some paid for assets, which is pretty typical; an asset flip is of course is when you buy assets, quickly stumble a game using just those assets for a quick buck. Palworld obviously has its own assets already preventing it from bein an asset flip, but even if it were all paid for assets, somehow, the game had loads of work and (lots of marketing) poured into it to take it out of the asset flip range. So you take an L there and should maybe take the time to educate yourself more.

Doubling down and calling the game a low effort scam is just plain stupid though. It's competent game and is as advertised, and an asset flip wouldn't necessarily be a scam outright on its own. You really jumped the gun on that one.

As for the AI and copyright infringement, neither are true. AI can't be true because they needed to be legally distinct to prevent copyright infringement, and the designs are unique enough to not be copyright infringing.

Please understand the proper use of the word "literally", because it actually doesn't apply here. I have seen those comparisons, and I say that Pocketpair is still in the clear. Even those some of the models look similar, the vertices/topology of those models are clearly different, suggesting that they were uniquely created. Unless Nintendo can prove in a court of law that they actually stole models directly from a commercial Pokemon game, Pocketpair has nothing to worry about.

No one has ripped models for comparison. Stitching together other models and changing up older models would be insanely difficult.

If you think the industry should follow the asset flip path, then we truly deserve the current state of gaming.

The purpose of asset flip games is to provide cheap experience that will quelch your thirst of gaming for a day or two.

From my heard they were a small staff of inexperienced programmers that had to teach themselves how to use unreal engine and hire the kid at the convenience store they visited to be their part time artist with a small budget of 10k. If true then they will likely hire people to work full time now that they're successful.
yah i feel scammed

Even if it was an asset flip, that doesn't change the fact that it's a damn fun game...
The term asset flip is being wattered down, much like many other terms on the internet. It was originally used for low effort, bad games that were stitched together with a hot needle and sold as they were to make some profit from bought or stolen assets.

This game couldn't be further from that. What's wrong with using purchased assets anyway. Get this, even a game like Elden Ring does. Does anybody care? No, because it's a fun game.

Nobdy cares where the assets came from, we all just care about a single thing. Is the game fun? Oh it is? Then whatever
