Can you transfer friend's world to your single player game ?
Pretty much title...

I have been playing with a friend for almost 10 hours on his server and I would like to ask if it's possible to transfer the world from his PC to my PC so I don't have to start from zero, but I can start from my character on that world.

Or is that world fixed to his PC ? because I would like to play single player as well if he is away or something because he is the one who has to start it and then I just join and I don't want to start from zero. I am also fully dependent because whenever he leaves the game, it kicks me out.

I figured out how to transfer the world. To transfer the world, you need to get the save file from their game and copy the subfolder of that world into your save folder. Only problem is that this makes you play as their character in that world. I've yet to figure out how to play as your own character.

Looks like some save file editing needs to happen, but I'm not experienced with that kind of thing.

I also took a look inside the safe files and I think I have that world in my files as well, but it's pretty much just some kind of data which doesn't really give me the world ? I have no idea lol, if I disconnect from my friend's server let's say 9:54PM, the time on the folder will say 9:54PM last edited, so I guess that is it and there is actually a Players folder with some kind of file in there, maybe that is the character file you need in order to play as your character ?

Basically the way I got it to work was to look into the folder with a bunch of numbers (beginning in 76561... for me) that corresponds to THEIR world, and copy the folder with a bunch of numbers and letters for their world and copying it to the 76561... folder that corresponds to your worlds.

A friend of mine managed to get the character thing worked out by basically taking the world and hosting it locally and connecting to it via multiplayer. That let them play as their character in that world.

Hard to explain in a forum post.

Characters are essentially saved in the world as their own profile, so you can't export individual player profiles and import it into a world of your choice.

Gotta wait for some sort of save file tool maybe.

Think of a world as a 'text' file, and the profile of the character is written in the lines for each player.

When a new player logs in and creates a new character, the world creates a new line for them, etc.
