Raid Scaling ?!
Just spent 11 hours having my version of fun in the game... exploring catching pals, min maxing base setup, decorating etc..... Well apparently, think twice before catching pals to level up your technology tree, because within a matter of 2-3 in-game days after just experiencing a total normal lvl 5-10 raid, the absolute satan of all pals just came through to my base completely decimating 11 hours of progress in a matter of 12 seconds. Not even a fighting chance. I'm posted up on the starter island barely had my pals up to level 13-14ish, just hit level 15 on my character and they sent me like 6 level 17 pals and a level 18 pal that can just AOE spam flames destroying all base building materials in a matter of seconds. Went from having genuine fun to not wanting to pick this game up for a few weeks. Please balance this and consider not spamming demonspawn pals on my starter island base, at least let me choose to be in a more dangerous area or wait for me to fight even a boss or something to scale. Literally, wtf was I expected to do? And yes, I understand you can turn off raids, had I known the game was going to lay a fat load on my backside with no warning I would have happily done so. But the inclination to do so should not be there based on an inconsistency of game mechanics, and rather just a preference to not engage in pve. Please fix scaling for your base defense mechanics.

ah yes... the Fire-Goat raid.... I caught that one early and killed most of them way outside my base....

Also... did you know stone doesn't burn and makes for great walls?

Be forewarned though... I've had a raid of some 10 humans from the independant pet alliance come in too... with them being around lvl 12 you feel like they can't do that much harm, right? Well; they come equiped with grenades and assault rifles... Have fun dealing with that
And if that wasn't enough... had a juggernaut raid of 3 lvl 20 Pals trek in too...tanky mofo's xD

I was looking for the ability to create with stone, but perhaps I hadn't gotten far enough in the tech tree or maybe glazed over some mechanic accidentally. Either way, it was especially painful because i just spent the last hour adding large additions to my base for design and functionality and I just had to sit and watch as it all crumbled! Sad times for sure. I expected there to be an uptick in difficulty, just surprised given the previous raid wasnt anywhere as near as devastating and then they dropped that one on me a few moments ago. Feels like the starter Island would not be the spot for these pals, but what do i know! guess i'll restart in a week or two when i finish mopping up my spilled milk lol

I dunno if you've noticed but the game doesn't *really* adhere to leveled zones... the area you start in has spawn points for the lvl 13 flowery dino's and the big squirels with a bush on their tail (lvl 11-15) as well as a lvl 38 boss monster who can stroll right up to the warp stone...

Once you start exploring the fog of war you'll still encounter plenty of Chicken, sheep and cats ranging from lvls 1-10... which makes for a rude awakening with the assaultrifle toting, grenade launching cultists that also roam there and the lvl 15~ friggin dragons that can stunlock you and ALWAYS fly in pairs

diff skill issue, day 26 and fended off tons of raids just focus on leveling the base and get some stronger Pals in the base.

First time they caught me off guard, I'll admit, and 1 blew up in the center of my base... 6000 damage...it literally destroyed everything in the area and killed all of my CQC pets.... Default Hard settings is 0.5x damage to pets and 4x damage to you... so those mofo's get tanky AF too

I had everything housed in buildings for personal design and aesthetic and this game actively dissuades and defeats its own purpose of being open world survival by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on players who decide to spend any extra time on this aspect. Sure have fun defending your flat dirt plots and spending all your time spam training pals for the specific purpose of defense. Let's just form the entire basis of the game on this linear combat difficulty flow and throw out the idea of it being open world if so!

Here's some saving grace for you then... I've pretty much been playing nonstop since release and from what I've experienced raids only happen when you are at your base... not whilst you are away....

So my tip is to swap out your party frequently so your "employees" are of a decently high level and fast track the research tree to stuff like stone walls, sandbags, alarmbell and put an Owl in there for good measure... stuff like that usually means that as soon as 1 enemy crosses the line into your territory they get blasted by so much AOE effects that you'll only have to mop up afterwards... (note that there are exceptions to this like those PAL Alliance raids as they come with plenty of ranged and AOE firepower of their own)

But the Goat Raid is definitely one of the toughest ones (if you play on normal... the difference between normal and hard truly is night and day if you ask me)

base raids have not been fun in any open-world game i've seen them in tbh. if you're "most people" i would recommend just turning them off, at least until after you have some trained-up Seed Mine spammers or something

at level 9 i had 3 relaxauruses at level 14 raid me. They launched me across the map and killed me in one hit then killed all my pals before leaving ......

dude you are literally saying you want pve off for raids.... so just turn it off. it's not hard to do if you really want to play that way. if you don't want to play a defensive game then don't have those options on. no need to cry about someone literally telling you how to properly defend your base... it's not even like defending your base is as dry (cosmetically) as you are claiming

Raids can be completely random. My level 8 character that hadn't captured anything over level 8 got a raid with 2 level 16 elite enemies. It's very poorly balanced, if at all.
