Game still running....
I noticed that the game still has to run in the background because steam and also discord told me, that I play the game despite I exited it. Pressing the closing button in the library leaves me with a greyed out button that says that it tries to shutting it down for 10 minutes now and still going.

I also noticed that my task manager lagges out because I wanted to try close it that way and it only shows a handfull of task so only around 30 what abolutly can't be and if I try to close task manager it freezes itself...

I can't imagine that there is something fishy about Palworld....but I can't tell otherwise.
So please everyone look about it and if you notice the same behavior like I descriped then there IS something going on...

Stay save!

How do you exit?
I use esc 'Main menu' -> 'Exit game' and afaik nothing keeps running.

Same happened to me too, I cant close the game for real even with task manager it just keeps using 5GB RAM, when I try to turn the PC off after "closing" the game, the PC freezes and i need to turn it off by using the power button, I also played for several hours straight

Not a fix, but i tried some different situations like turning the game off quickly after starting it and then I could turn the PC off without freezing, maybe its related to the time the game is running, reported it to the devs, also, u guys that are having this problem, are you hosting coop ? Because I am, maybe it could be a reason

Use Control + Shift + Escape and manually end task in Window's Task Manager.

Yes and no, I host my own coop server but on a different PC so I guess this would't be the problem I think.

It's a Japanese game not Chinese. Also, games running in the background after closing them, for me are usually the result of Steam Cloud uploading data back to the spy center to Valve Corporation.

That having said i will pay attention, thank you.

Had the exact same problem again after a couple of hours playtime but I don't think that it is steam cloud because if it would be it would standing there that it syncronize save files but that is simply not the case.

My friend and I were in a 8 hour session in a 2 player lobby and when we both closed the game through the main menu we had the same issue. Task manager was bricked, google would not open and the game was not closing properly had to kill the pc. I would love to play this game but this is a huge concern.

Just a bug. ive had it with other games in the past. Even from larger known studios.

Does it on my PC. but not on the laptop.
Not sure why its a huge concern lol.

Every time someone thinks a games Chinese they go all conspiracy theory on it. btw. the games not Chinese.

So it probably triggers based on the time the game has been running and not because of hosting it, kinda interesting to let the devs know

I dont think about it as a conspiracy, I know the game is japanese, but this still a problem to be fixed by the devs, I dont like to turn the PC off everytime I close a game, and its even worse because we need to turn it off by power button, not a really healthy method for the PC

Also for anyone interested there's a thread on reddit about this

Glad that I'm not the only one....altho it sucks that we have this problem...
But I may found a solution. Yesterday I didn't close the game via the ingame menu but just good ol' Alt + F4'd the game....and it seemed to work just fine. Dunno if this was just a coincidence but I'll try it from now on and will tell ya if it worked.
Will tell the redditors as wel just in case no one looks into here.

EDIT: Also: their solution was to reinstall/update C++ runtime apperently so I will try that as well. If you want to as well here the microsoft link.
