How do you stow away weapons/tools that you have out?
Can you run around with nothing in your hands?

I just scroll with the mouse wheel until everything is put away

you can hold up to 4 tools, if you leave one spot open then can scroll to the empty spot to free up your hands.

Does anyone have an issue where your character randomly switches between weapons on their own?

nope but do check if in case you have an issue with your mouse (or if you have plugged a controller in your PC as these is what happens in some games)

My issue is slightly different in that I can't make full use of the 4 weapon slots.
It only switches between 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 but not 1, 2, 3, 4 like expected.
So if I have 3 weapons equipped, the game only allows me to use 2 of them, I have to manually swap out to use the 3rd weapon.

The scroll wheel is too sensitive, imo. It's easy to 'nudge' a combat weapon out while in combat and end up with an ax or pick when you are trying to range an enemy. *shrug*

Had this same issue with my mouse and it was a setting within the mouse itself. If I remember correctly it was just switching between two styles of scrolling for the wheel. I would look up your specific mouse and check if it has that function.
