you collect monsters and throw balls at them thats about where the comparison ends

It's absolutely a ripoff in art design and the pokeball capture aspect, but the rest of the game is very much not Pokemon, which was actually a negative for a lot of folks when gameplay was finally revealed. I know I was hoping for something that could be a good replacement for Pokemon for me, even if it was just a knockoff, but I'm okay with this game being more like Ark and such instead.

The fact that Palword monsters looks extremely close to Pokemon that have already been designed is literally the reason I am even interested in this game and trying it. Take away "Pokemon with guns" and nobody would care about this game.
