Most Pals work on getting you stones in your base if you also have stone pit (which if ore drops they will get it for you too).

Tombat is a good early game miner. I think the earliest miner you can get is Catyia though. Depresso also mines, which surprised me.

You need pal that have mining skill, earliest you can get is cattiva and transporting skill for pick up drops to storage box.
The higher the skill lv the more efficient(faster) it becomes.
Just build 1 base around those iron node cluster and you’ll swimming in ingot in no time

You will need higher mining level on your Pals for them to make any headway on ore rocks that spawn on the map, but there is currently no way to build an ore deposit.

this works pretty good. I´ve found a nice spot with 8-9 ore deposits. There is my second base, only a few beds, feeder and two smelters. mass of turtles (lvl 3 mining, from the center/north desert) a few collecter/fire pals. Didn´t stopped the time, but its round about 100 iron per hour.

Sounds like one needs Pal with lv3 mining (maybe lv2?) for them to mine iron.

How big they are matters for what they have to move around. Their skill stats matter for what they can do and how well. And if they can't transport things, then they will break the rocks and iron, but won't put it away.

Some people have said only flyers can mine iron but it is possibly just a sort of hitbox/targetting issue. Some ground pals can't hit high enough to hit the iron so they won't mine iron even if they have the skills for it.

Build your base on an ore node and assign a Pal that can mine. Get another Pal to collect it and make sure you have a chest placed nearby.

Minimum mining skill of 2 for auto ore farming. The Rushoar and Cattiva DO NOT mine ore. Earliest ore miner I found was Tombat which spawns at night around the red ground area. The Mammorest near the starter area can also mine ore but I've found they glitch out sometimes getting stuck on top of the nodes starving themselves cause they can't reach the food. As others have said tho, the big turtle is the best ore miner. I haven't found one yet but still have a good supply of ore for my guns, armour and ammo.

Digtoise is a pal, once you buy its ability, you can farm iron like crazy, make sure you have 4 Cattiva

Pals of the type associated with that activity tend to be the best at their jobs, so you're looking for a ground type pal. If you walk around in the wilderness, you'll also come across eggs that will make this searching process much easier. Ground type eggs commonly hatch an oddball fish blob guy with lv 2 mining skill.

Note that while larger pals (in their base form) can do more, they also consume more food than smaller pals, but with two berry fields you'll probably be set for food forever once you have the pals to run them.

Any pal with at least mining 2 will mine ore by itself if it's in the base's area. It does seem like you have to be close enough though for them to actually mine and collect it (in singleplayer anyway, can't say for multi/server) unlike with crafting/gathering stations.

Exactly. Hold down the F button and he literally mines a whole ore thing in like 4 seconds. I think he needs to be level 25 or higher before he starts doing normal damage to iron. Because even with the headband, I think he was doing 1 damage per hit at lvl 24.
