does anyone know? it would suck to find out in 2 hours that the settings did the opposite of what i thought
Note: "Gatherable objects" refers to gathering nodes like trees and rocks, not the small amounts of wood and stone lying on the ground.
Tested using a new character with stone axe and stone pickaxe, no Pals, gathering a single tree and rock in the starting area. Created a new world for each test to make sure the settings apply correctly.
This table shows the hits needed to destroy 1 tree/rock and the amount of loot from it, at various values of GOHM.
Hits needed may be +/-1 due to random damage variation.
*The pickaxe broke at 150 hits, so I had to make a new one and account for the materials used.
I tested different values of GIM as well, but it works as expected so no need to list all the combinations of GIM x GOHM.
Tested on:
2024-01-21, Palworld v0.1.2.0
2024-01-28, Palworld v0.1.3.0
the one that had more hp did give more wood (though about 4.5 times as much for 6 times the hp) but the stone one did nothing but make the rock take 6 times as many hits for the exact same payout. see screenshots. same single rock and single tree in both worlds. made fresh worlds both times.

It does only apply on the Ores that spawns fresh.
what do you mean exactly?
there is not really any point to discuss the merit of personal preferences the goal is to understand the mechanics. and mechanic wise if you set gatherable object multiplier higher then you get more wood and stone.
but gatherable object HP is either weird or bugged as it seems to affect the yield of trees (more HP = more wood and fiber) but NOT stone
rocks remain unaffected by respawning. im going to report it and hopefully it is indeed just a bug and eventually the answer will become: "hp only affects total swings needed without affecting yield"
Ok, I can confirm this with stone. My bad for assuming it'd work consistently. I mean Pocketpair only has 4 years experience working on another crafting game.
That would make sense for wood only if your base relied on natural trees instead of the logging farm. Then setting HP higher would make trees last longer and give more wood.
But since kralmir discovered stone doesn't work the same way, it's probably still better to lower the HP to get stone faster in early game.
Also, that's assuming Pals are affected by the setting in the same way as the player, and there aren't any other differences/bugs with other ores...
there is no setting on the the Palworld GPortal setting for (Gatherable Items Multiplier)
since a disclaimer is needed for people who COMMENT ON A 16 MONTH OLD THREAD OF A GAME THIS IS IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT: the information in this entire thread is likely to be largely if not entirely wrong at this point
