Where are people building their 1st proper base?
I started a base at the second waypoint (just before the ruined building and the traveller, and just down the hill from the big leafy boss)

Not the best area, as half the space is in the water & the boss sometimes stumbles in and base gets decimated.

So where are people building their first base? or have anyone seen any good spots?

Building mine near the start lol. Not too far from resources

I built my first base on the cliff. If you go back from the starting point of the game back towards the beach there will be a place with three mining rocks and a tree. I made my base there

Built mine right off the drop off of the left stairs in the small ruins. I built a small house within the ruins. I regret it since I didn't know they'd make it a teleporter too and it's right there next to the starter one... oh well.

Especially now that I have the mine and forest thing so don't need to be near anything for the base materials.

That said, I haven't really seen a great place. Though I'm curious if you can build one near that waterfall. It's still not far from the start but it looks nice at least.

First time I built a base, I didn't know how the mechanics worked, and didn't know certain "Pals" would do certain things.

My advise, built a base near resources within your Pal Circle, and get Pal's that can gather wood/stone early on.

Sure, you'll be able to build Stone/Wood places later on, but early game I've found out (just starting a new game after learning), settling near Stone/Wood is just such a good idea, should you have the "pals" to work those Resources, AKK Deer, and the Pink cats which seem to do everything except Lumber lol.

My secondary game I started, I build my new base near those resources withing the Pal Circle, and oh my.... What a Life saver.... Don't just "Choose Scenery" like I did the first time around, be around actual resources, it helps 100%

You can build more then one base eventually, can teleport between bases at will, and you get 100% refunded for deconstructing, so the only painful thing about packing up and moving a specific base is shuffling huge amounts of heavy resources between them. It's not bad to have one base in a big open area where you can just put crafting, farming, and manafacturing stations down eventually but one of your bases will probably want to be near a big ass metal ore mine at some point.

Ive found to potential spots to move to

The island north of the starting one has some great open fields amongst the forest
And the east side of the starting island, just to the west of some red stuff (lava?) on the map is a huge beach
I built mine next to the pond near the starting area. This was a mistake because it didn't leave a lot of room for building. This was made worse when I built my home inside my base, not realizing I could build it anywhere I wanted.

Don't concern yourself with whether or not basic resources can be found inside your base, the logging/mining stations you can build are more than sufficient and you can unlock them at level 7. If you can find a spot where Ore regularly spawns, that might be a great place to build, but only if the areas is open enough as the AI can struggle with pathfinding through anything that's even remotely "Narrow"

To be honest the best place early on in the beginning is the tallest mountain flat top near the beach. It has a huge amount of trees and mining rocks.

-One waypoint is called churchXXX it has huge amounts of ore behind it.

-Turning around at the initial spawnpoint you can find a huge free beach with trees nearby. There is also a dungeon as a bonus.

-At the second teleporter there is enough space to build a big house with plenty of mats around.

-around the "bandit" tower are good open space.

- Another extremely huge open space is around another waypoint with a portal dungeon nearby.

you can also die in the beginning and choose to respawn on another island nearby

Yeah that's what I learned for my second start. Picked a nice big piece of flat land with trees and rocks around the edges. Still had to do lumber myself until I grabbed a few monkeys, but cats will do the rocks right from the start.

Given the existence of the fast travel system, I don't really see myself making a second major base.

I ended up dying and spawning on some island in rhe middle of the ocean. I walked about 40 mins until I found some bandit camp and me and my penguin killed everyone and freed some giant fire lion that became my mount. I picked a large open clearing oh top of a large mountain full of wood and rocks. Seems to be doing well so far

I built my house near the waterfall and will probably relocate if I find a better view.

A decent looking spot is that beach north west of where you start on a new game, its big, its flat, there are some trees around. I been trying to find a decent spot with alot of space that also has some of the rock/tree and maybe a ore node nearby, Does the palbox prevent Pal spawns?

AI also struggles with even small slops. Where I am the tail end of the circle is on a small ramp and there's nothing there for the AI. Yet for some reason they love to go there and get stuck jittering back and forth rapidly as they starve to death. ;'3

I have to toss them in the box and take them back out and they'll be fine for a bit only to break again and want to go starve to death again. Works better than picking them up.
I built mine next to where the boss spawns on the starter island, the ice/dragon type, so I could farm it until I got a good one. it doesn't aggro, so it doesn't cause any problems, and it is pretty near to a life fruit tree so I can keep an eye on that too. I'll probably drop my second one near a formation of ore rocks I found, so I can get massive amounts of ore with much less effort.
